Peat moss for soil amendment
Good value for amount tan NEW Zealand sphagnum moss (peat moss). Peat moss is dead decomposed material formed as the lower layers of living sphagnum moss die and compress overtime. It appears brown to tan and has a soil like or fiber texture and is denser than living moss. Tan moss or peat moss is primarily used as a soil amendment to improve water retention and acidity in garden beds or potting mixes, particularly for sand base or clay soils. Green sphagnum moss is the living upper layer of the moss plant. Shades can range from bright yellow to green. Green moss is popular for terrariums, vivarium, moss poles, hanging baskets and floral arrangements and propagation of cutting due to its aesthetic and water retentive properties. Understanding these differences helps gardeners, hobbyists and landscapers choose the appropriate moss, depending on moisture needs aesthetic, preferences, and environmental considerations.

Good quality with hardly any debris
I thought I got scammed by how small the brick that arrived was, but it definitely expanded after I added water to it. I like the quality. It has hardly any branches or other trash that you can experience with a lot of sellers.

Clean, springy moss for orchids
I use this ZeeDix New Zealand sphagnum for phals and oncidiums. Fibers are long, clean, and easy to tease apart. It hydrates fast and holds water without turning slimy.I pack it loose in baskets and on mounts so roots get air and stay bright. It wicks well and keeps aerial roots happy. I mix in a little perlite and it still holds shape. Some strands arrive compacted and need a rinse to fluff. A few brown bits show up in the bale. It stays wet in deep pots, so I water less to avoid rot.

Really nice quality
This is a really nice quality moss. Itâs clean and the fibers are long and well-formed. It is super compacted so it fluffs up a ton. This is really clean without sticks or grass in it.
