    Easy to use!
Give it a 10min soak wring it out and put it in your plants. The color is perfect! I put it in my orchid arrangement and the left overs in my houseplants. Have fun!

    Stinks to the high heavens!
I hate writing negative reviews and really wanted this moss to work for me, but unfortunately it fails miserably. The only plus is that it arrived on time, was close enough to the 1.1lbs stated in the description and once rehydrated and properly fluffed up, it did almost fill up a 20qt/19L tub. However, the cons far outweigh the pros.Upon soaking in fresh clean water, there was a LOT of dirt and sludge (see photos). I said to myself, “that’s fine, it’s a natural product so I fully expect some dirt and twigs”. However, it also smells of dead fish and seaweed. At first, I was trying to be generous by saying maybe the smell will dissipate once aired out. Nope. It still stinks and actually smells more like dead fish now than when I was soaking it. I also did multiple rinses with my garden hose, multiple totes/buckets and a colander to try to get as much of the sludge out but the water was still pretty muddy after 5 rinses and I was wasting so much water. Figured maybe I’ll just do additional rinses as I need more product.I purchased this to make moss poles, so I used some of it to make a pole to see how it performs as I needed one to repot one of my philodendrons. After potting up with said pole, I watered thoroughly to ensure the moss was saturated. After less than 24hrs, the moss is very dry compared to my other moss poles filled with sphagnum moss from a local big box store. Not only is the pole dry, it still reeks of dead fish.I hate to say it, but this product was a waste of time and money. It might be less expensive for the rehydrated volume compared to bigger brands, but the amount of time and water wasted in trying to get it clean enough to use indoors negates any cost savings you might think you’re getting. Now I have a tub of horrific smelling moss sitting on my back porch that I don’t know what to do with because there’s no way I’m bringing it inside to store for future use. Regretfully, this is likely the worst product I’ve ever purchased on Amazon. Can’t return since I rehydrated the whole block.I suppose if you want decorative moss and don’t mind the smell, then it might work for you.

    Lots of good enough moss.
Received my ZeeDix 1.1 lb. moss today. After opening the package, I put it in a 66 quart container and added some water. After breaking the block apart, I noticed that there was a lot of grass and some twigs. Also noticed that there was a lot of dirt. I’m using this to make a moss pole, so I don’t really mind it being a mix of things. There is no bad smell, just smells like earth. The color is a mix of greens and browns (mostly brown). The container in the photo is about half full, so I got about 33 quarts of moss after fluffing. It works for my application, but if you want greener and cleaner you might want to look at another brand.

    Works well, lots of material
My son used this for building terrariums and decoration in his plant only fish tank. It worked well and came with a huge quantity of moss for the cost. his terrariums are still going strong, so it is functioning well and holding moisture like it should. It is very pretty as a ground cover, and there was no contamination of other plants or fungi.

    A Versatile, Plant-Centric Medium
This pack of premium sphagnum moss arrives as a tightly compressed block of long-fibered moss. It claims to have been sustainably harvested and guaranteed free of chemical additives.Out of the box it feels remarkably dry and compact, but once hydrated, the fibers unfurl into a lush, fibrous mat that holds water like a sponge, supporting the high-humidity requirements of orchids, carnivorous plants, succulents, terrarium flora. Its natural acidity (pH 4.0–5.0) aligns perfectly with acid-loving species and gently releases minerals as it breaks down, making it an inherently self-nurturing substrate. The open, springy texture also improves airflow around roots and promotes a healthy microbial environment, a critical factor when you’re striving for vigorous growth and disease resistance.Working with a densely compressed brick can be messy until you get the hang of gently teasing fibers apart under a trickle of water. Expect some stray strands and a bit of debris around your work area—nothing a quick rinse and a paper towel cleanup can’t handle. Once you’ve mastered the prep, however, you’ll find the expanded moss extremely easy to customize to any container size or substrate blend.Overall, Zeedix’s premium sphagnum moss stands out for its reliable water-holding capacity, natural acidity, and purity. Whether you’re an orchid grower, a terrarium builder crafting humid micro-climates, this moss offers a versatile, plant-centric medium that earns its place in any serious grower’s toolkit.
