The appearance of the food was great. It is not cat food. The food was fresh when the bag was open. The size of the bag was great. The price was not bad either. When you open the bag it smells like oranges.

My parakeet loves this food and freaks out when he sees the bag coming. He has a beak deformity and I was worried I wouldn’t be able to find a food he could eat easily and he was underweight when I brought him home because of his issue. All the seeds are small enough he has no trouble breaking them open and he eats like a pig. He has gained almost 8g since I brought him home over the summer and he gets cranky when either one of his two bowls is empty and throws them on the floor of his cage until I fill it again; obviously he’s a fan. I appreciate that Vitakraft is significantly less on Amazon for both of my birds’ food and I can keep it stocked up with no problem. Also, I think it smells good. Which doesn’t really matter to a bird, but it matters to me.

If your bird likes a variety of seeds, this brand is a good choice. Our picky budgie only eats the millet.
