You probably feel like you know everything about your cat and his needs, but chances are there’s a lot you aren’t aware of. For example, did you know that the food you feed him every day has nowhere near enough nutritional value, or that he may have chronic tooth decay? Have you ever been told that the essence of the flower holly can help him be less jealous, or that a massage can lessen his arthritis pains?
The Veterinarians’ Guide to Natural Remedies for Cats is an introduction and a guide to the vast world of natural methods, treatments, and foods that are now available for cats. Veterinarians from around the country offer information and opinions to help you determine what’s best for your cat. In addition to showing you how to develop a healthy diet for your pet, these doctors will tell you about alternative treatments such as homeopathy, acupuncture, chiropractic care, massage, and herbal medicine.

Some of the sites listed are no longer providing what one needs
I rescue a lot of cats and I sometime cannot take them to the vet because they are ferals, so I needed a way to take care of them and use natural remedies. I still have the book as a reference.

If you love your cat you need to buy this book.
This book should be called Feline Nutritional Education for Dummies, because if you are feeding your pet cat food you definitely need this knowledge. In brief, this book gives case studies of sick felines and how through nutritional healing they became well. This was achieved through feeding a diet of human grade ingredients along with nutritional supplements. The cheapest place by far to purchase supplements online is “iherb”.The holistic veterinarians that give information in this book are the finest in the United States. Many of these veterinarians give recipes for a cooked homemade diet. However, the ultimate diet is raw, but in order for one to eventually transition their feline there, you first need to build a strong foundation, that this book gives you.You will become motivated to change by understanding what is in pet food, then you will get the knowledge building blocks on how to make the nutritional transition to a true feline species appropriate diet. Moreover, this book gets right to the point and may be difficult for many people to accept. Many individuals are in denial that pet food just cannot be bad for their pet, if you are a person that is convinced through deductive argument based on scientific facts then this book is for you.

Keep an open mind!
I got some neat information here, but I always defer to my veterinarian before doing anything for my babies. I do believe natural remedies are to be researched thoroughly as conventional medications, and in some cases the natural meds are better and gentler. Try to find a veterinarian who is as open-minded, and you can get the best care for your pet this way.

Must HAVE for cat lovers!
I have had this book for 10 years. It is the best! It has proved to be invaluable to me when conventional veterinarian medicine did not work.I would like to say that it has saved the life of more than one of my cats.My 14 year old male cat has more life and kick than my 8 year old cats. He has a history of arthritis, hyperthyroidism and cardiomyopathy. The remedies in this book most certainly saved his life!Recently, my 2 year old cat was diagnosed with Feline Infectious Peritonitis. The vet put a toe tag on her and said she wouldn’t survive long without ablood transfusion. Referring to The Veterinarian’s Guide to Natural Remedies for Cats, I used a combination of recommended remedies and turned thisdeadly disease around! The Veterinarian’s Guide to Natural Remedies for Cats is my CAT BIBLE!

We bought the cat version or did we?
We purchased the cat version but I flipped to a section, on page 167 and it talks about putting garlic into your dogs food. But this is the cat book. Does anyone know if this can also be done for cats? We have the dog book and bought the cat one for a reference for our cats since we are loving the dog version. Now we are confused.

Chock full of good information
I learn so much about ways to help my cats when they have an issue.

In consider this an essential reference for cat ‘owners’ (owned more like). One suggestion in the book I think is a bit mad is the idea of using a mineral oil to help with fur balls. Extra virgin olive oil is a far better option. Other than that I rate the book very highly and recommend to all who care for cats. There is a similar book by the same author for dogs too that my niece has and recommends.

LOVE this book! It’s our ‘go-to’ for alternative care for our very many cats. GET IT if you love your cats and are tired of allopathic pill pushing.
MVS –
My daughter uses it regularly when she has a concern for her cat, Stanley. She say the book is terrific: easy to follow with valuable information.
