Good set-up
I love the writing style of the book. It is set up in a Q&A format. I like reading other people’s questions and see how they relate to what I’m thinking and what I’m going through with my horse. So many people have questions and are too afraid to ask, so reading a book with questions similar to my own is a definate help!

As of 2004, the publication date, the author seems to have been unaware of science based training. With only a passing reference to “Clicker Training” an important approach to solving bahavior challenges is largely ignored. There are much better sources for helping horse owners with reducing unwanted behaviors. Although the information is technically accurate it falls far short of providing desensitization, counter conditioning, and positive reinforcement based solutions for unwanted behaviors. This book accurately reflects the state of technology being applied in equine training at the time of publication. Six years later there is more awareness of the value of techniques based solidly on the principals of Classical and Operant Conditioning.
