My Cats Will Eat!
So, Iâve been trying to find a kibble that my cats will eat thatâs not filled with things that are harmful to my fur babies thatâs not gonna cost me an arm and a leg for only a small bag.Turns out, thatâs a pretty tall order. Especially, when I do find one and my cats refuse to eat it. Or Iâll find a freeze dried one, but itâs too big for my feeder to dispense which then leads to my cats getting hangry and causing all kinds of havoc at 5 in the morning.Then, I find Tiki Cat which is human grade, species appropriate, fits in my feeder, and has a big bag at the same price point as all of those little bags!Something Iâve noticed is that my older boy has gained a bit more energy, is alert more often, and just overall seems to be a happier cat in his stubborn, grumpy way.Itâs also nice that on the back of the bag, the company educates cat parents that kibble alone is not enough for cats as it doesnât have the moisture it needs to hydrate them.I also did invest in some wet food, and my cats seem to like it fine. Iâm going to order different flavors until I find one all of them like.All in all, if youâre a cat parent whoâs learned how horrible commercial brand kibble is for cats and are looking for something thatâs better for them or you have a cat that refuses to eat only wet food and demands kibble in their life, then try out Tiki Cat. They offer small bags which do not cost much and if your cat likes a flavor, go for a bigger bag.

High Ash Content = Bladder Crystals
The long and short of why I rated this 3 stars is because my cat got down to a healthy weight, but with drawbacks.She was a little chubby (vet said in Oct 2024 she needed to lose at least a pound) and this food helped her drop 2 lbs. That’s the positive. We just kept giving her this stuff because she loved it, and it was getting results.The downside is she developed crystals in her bladder. Our vet put her on a prescribed diet for 3 weeks, which cleared them up. The vet said we could probably put her back on this food, but to check the ash content of anything we feed her. I know I could just give her less of the dry and feed her more wet food (which has much lower ash content), but I like relying on our automatic feeder.At the time of this review, she’s still eating the leftover prescribed food and the same treats we gave her before learning about the crystals.I’ve done my research on the treats we feed her, and have all but confirmed that the Born Carnivore food was most likely the cause of the bladder crystals.We’re going to ease her into another dry food that has a documented lower ash content, while she finishes up the prescribed food.

A nice change
Like most, my cats are picky eaters they only like the chicken and egg by Tiki cat, which is usually fine, because I know itâs a lower carb cat kibble. I bought this on a lark, just to see if they would eat it. I give it to them about once a week. And miracle of miracles, they really like it. Not going to risk, changing completely, and donât see any reason to. However, this is the first cat food they have eaten other than their favorite.
