Customers say

Customers find this fertilizer to be the best all-in-one product, noting it works well with CO2 injection systems and helps plants grow fast. They appreciate its ease of use compared to multiple bottles, and consider it good value for money. While some customers report their plants are thriving, others mention fish deaths, and there are mixed experiences with nitrate levels and algae blooms.

    Excellent
Excellent and cost-effective. I’m using this in a 20 gallon long tank. Had some jungle val I put in the tank in March, 6 months later it had barely grown any – and from what I’ve seen and heard, that’s super unusual for val, and did not fit my vision for my tank. Started using this in September (and added more root tabs too), and the val is doing beautifully now, as are my anubias and swords, even the buce is starting to grow! I dose 2 pumps at water changes, and do not add if I skip a water change. Everything is looking nice and healthy and green! My windelov is pumping babies out all over the place too!

Works great, revived my plants, More nutrients than API leaf zone
I started using this after some of my plants started melting back pretty hard during the first couple weeks of setup. I wasn’t expecting much right away but within a week or so I started seeing new growth on the Monte Carlo and even the crypts perked up. It’s easy to dose and doesn’t mess with water clarity or anything like that. I’m not running a super high-tech tank, just moderate light and CO2, and this seems to be doing the job without overdoing it. The bottle lasts a while too. Not much else to say—it works and my plants look way better now than they did before I added it. This bottle also has some nutrients that something like api leaf zone (which is what I used before) lacked. I think that’s what made my plants green again. May your plants flourish!

My plants love this and I do too!
My plants absolutely love this stuff and it is so easy for me to use. I admit I am pretty forgetful and lazy when it comes to fertilizing, so the Thrive line of liquid fertilizers are right up my alley. I have several low tech, heavily planted tanks and I definitely noticed a difference in my overall plant health within a week of using this stuff. This is like plant crack ;P I have new growth everywhere and my floating plants are going bananas, which is good news for my trio of goldfish. The 3 little piggies love to nom on the trimmings. For those with invertebrates: My amanos, nerites, and bamboo shrimp do just fine dosing this, the original version of Thrive. I do my 25-30% water changes about every other week. I do dose more than the amount recommended for low tech setups, but I also spread the dosage out over 4 days instead of dosing all at once. My tanks are heavily planted riparium style with both emergent and submerged growth, quick growing vals, swords, crypts, and out of control floaters. They are understocked critter wise and I have a hard time keeping even my nitrates above zero. Your mileage may vary, of course. If your tank is lightly planted with mostly slow growers like anubias, mosses, and java fern, my schedule is not going to work for you. Everybody’s tanks are different, so you need to use your best judgement and figure out what works best in your tank. I can only share what works for me in my situation. 🙂 In my opinion though, as long as you have an etablished, adequate sized, and healthy growing plant mass, and keep up on your water changes, I don’t forsee a problem with the low dose of copper in this fertilizer harming invertebrates.NilocG Aquatics also makes a shrimp specific fertilizer, Thrive S, for those that are still worried. I have used that one in the past for the greater part of a year and it works pretty darned well. I would think it might work especially well for overstocked tanks where one might have a problem with nitrates building up (it adds a lower level of N with each dose).

Works great, but use with caution
So this stuff has worked great and I definitely recommend. Plants really took off once I started using, and I wasn’t even using as often as bottle stated. Used off and on with zero problems for couple months. That said, as a novice to planted aquariums, I made a huge mistake. I had forgotten to add the fertilizer for awhile and put a pump in my betta aquarium before leaving town for two days. I had added a pleco a week before and wow does he poop! Also had an almond leaf that needed removed, but figured could deal with detritus and water change when I got back. My water parameters had been fine the week before.Boy was I wrong. My betta had dropsy when I returned and when I tested nitrates, they were at toxic levels. I am treating him, but do not expect him to survive. So please people, be careful with this, and any other fertilizer. After this tragic lesson, I plan on testing my nitrates every time I add fertilizer, and recommend everyone else to do the same. It only takes couple minutes and is totally worth the effort.

    Very, very pleased
I was feeling defeated with my planted tank. Nothing was growing, and some things were even dying. I was using Seachem products and couldn’t figure out what was wrong. Someone on Facebook recommended this line and wow, in the month Ive been using it I’ve seen crazy growth! I was even getting ready to throw out my Madagascar Lace due to no growth and it looking dead, I’ve had 4 new leafs sprout up since starting this brand! My Java Ferns? Growing like crazy! I go to bed and when i turn on my aquarium lights in the morning I can see new leafs popping up on almost all my plants! It’s amazing.I don’t use the full dose. I have a 75gallon and use 5 pumps 2x weekly(once after water change, once a few days later). This will bump your nitrates up quite a bit. I was running at 10ppm pre thrive, now I run about 40ppm. Fish don’t seem to mind though. I have to stay on top of my water changes a lot more after starting this, but it’s worth it.

You can’t use this product blindly you have to test for nitrates. My water changes rate from weekly to every 10 days @ 50%. When the product arrived I was 5 days since a water change. I read some of the bad reviews of people getting algae, and having to do multiple water changes to control algae, etc. I read a great review where the user said test nitrates.Using this product in 3 planted tanks. 120gallon, 90 gallon, 45 gallon. I used to used seachem products. It was okay but you had to do a lot of testing and dose nitrogen and phosphorus on top of comprehensive because comprehensive is week. It’s expensive and I went away from it because it takes a lot of time. Great results though. I went to comprehensive alon and it garbage.Let’s talk about this product. It is potent. Tested tanks before adding and all 3 tanks we 0 ppm nitrate. I added this product as per directions since I was at 0ppm. A day later I tested the water and there was a slight increase in nitrates but not what I had hoped for. So initially I wasn’t impressed with the products. Couple of days later nitrates easily over 10ppm but safe. Fast forward, do my next water change. Wait two days test water before adding and bam already at slightly over 10ppm nitrate. I couldn’t imagine what happens to users that don’t test and add this product blindly.Test water. Use caution. This product is potent and works really well at providing results in your planted tank.

It’s a pretty good all-in-one fert, fairly good value compared to some others. I would suggest starting with the 500ml bottle and getting a 2L bottle later for refills.I would also suggest ignoring the instructions on the bottle and instead dose using a digital TDS meter. Reason being the bottle’s instructions give a heavy dose which I found results in high nitrates that can stunt plant growth and cause issues with green dust algae. What I’d suggest instead is to measure your tap water with a TDS meter and dose ferts daily to maintain your tank at a TDS that’s about 20-40ppm higher than your tap water. Ensure you do a minimum 50% water change weekly to keep nurtrient levels stable long-term.In my case, my tap water’s TDS is 165ppm, at the start of the week my tank’s TDS is 185ppm, at the end of the week, tanks TDS is around 205ppm. Then at the end of the week, I do a ~50% water change to bring the TDS back down to 185ppm.To maintain these levels on my heavily planted medium-high light 60 gallon tank, I dose about 2ml daily which is comparable to the bottle’s low-medium light dose.

Beautiful stuff, and my results were instantaneous. Lasts fast longer then I anticipated, which has been a welcomed surprise. Just alternate with flourish advance, or another supplement. I literally use this product 2 to maybe 3 times a week and flourish advance in between. His bazooka atomizers are crap stay away from them they basically rot in the water from poor manufacturing and no amount of bleach in this world will clean them… Then the co2 is forced into big bubbles that flow from the seams.
