Tetra® HT Submersible Heater is designed to keep your aquatic fish comfortable, with an electronic thermostat that automatically maintains a consistent water temperature of 78 degrees and prevents overheating, extending heater life. An indicator light lets you know when the water is heating (red light) and when it reaches the proper temperature (green light). Inside, silicon carbide crystals improve heat distribution and transfer. The strong glass tube is heat and shock resistant. This submersible heater is easy to use – just attach to the inside of the aquarium wall using the suction cup (included) in an area with good water circulation. The Tetra HT Submersible Heater is available in different wattages to fit your aquarium: use the 50-watt HT10 in 2 to 10 gallon aquariums; 100-watt HT30 for 10 to 30 gallons; 150-watt HT40 for 30 to 40 gallons; and 200-watt HT55 for 40 to 55 gallons. This heater is UL Listed. Solid Performance, Limited Flexibility
I have a few of these in use and haven’t had one fail yet. Most mainstream brands still use bimetallic strip thermostats in most of their aquarium heaters. These Tetra heaters use an electronic thermostat instead, which should reduce potential failure points by eliminating both the moving parts of a bimetallic strip, and the temperature control knob, which is a point on other heaters that can allow water ingress. On paper, that makes them a bit more robust than the traditional design. The main drawback is that these are fixed to around 78°F. If you need to run a tank hotter—into the mid-80s for disease treatment, for example—these won’t do the job. That said, for most people and most setups, these heaters are perfectly adequate, especially at the price point. If you need more flexibility or want extra peace of mind, I’d suggest looking at some of the heaters from Chinese brands with external digital controllers. Even better: pair your heater with an external temperature controller. That way, both the heater and the controller would need to fail at once to overheat your tank. Ideally, you’d run two smaller heaters, each on its own controller, to provide redundancy for both stuck-on and stuck-off failures.Of course, by the time you buy all that, you’re looking at a setup that costs about six times more than one of these. So it really just comes down to where you want to land on the cost vs. risk spectrum. For a basic, inexpensive heater, these have done the job just fine for me.

    Kept the tank warm
This item worked well and it was easy to set up. It fit inside the fish tank and heated up quickly. The quality is good as well it’s been used for over a year with no issues.

No frills or adjustments, good for 10 gal or less, submersible
OK for a quarantine tank- preset no adjustments- short, works in a 10 gallon not for a 15 or 20 but still submersible. All my other tanks have high end heaters and are all tropical tanks. You can put a fish from cooler water INTO warmer water but not vice versa, otherwise, you may get ick outbreaks, as the parasite is always present and lives on all the fish but are dormant- UNLESS you put them in cooler water without acclimating them.

    Good product for price
Seems to be a very good product for the price. My fish are not fragile, so this non-adjustable heater is just fine. Not a bad design, and will work for most situations.

Great heater for saltwater or freshwater aquariums
Many people that are rating this product with a 1 or 2 star clearly are not using it right, saying it is going out or not heating hot enough. To use this heater properly, you must sit the heater in the aquarium water for 30 minutes before even plugging it in. This is to set the thermostat inside the heater. Also, you must place the heater set up 90 degrees or laying flat parallel with the bottom of the tank. Another reason it may stop working is, once you turn off the heater you must leave it in the water for 15 minutes before taking it out.Bottom line is, this is a great heater. I use 3 of them total, one for a 10 gallon saltwater nano reef, one for a 10 gallon freshwater aquarium, and one to heat up my water change water. This is one of the best compact heaters I have used, compared to two other more expensive heaters. This is also definitely the cheapest place to find the heater (on amazon), in my local fish stores it runs $17. Ignore the reviews by people that probably didn’t even read the instructions before sticking it in their tank and saying it doesn’t work right. No adjustments need to be made with this heater and that is one of the greatest things about it also.Pros:Red light when heatingGreen light when temperature is correctSmall and compactCheap priceGood qualityFully SubmersibleHeats up to 10 gallonsConsistent temperatureRubber protects the glass heating tubeCons:Cannot change the temperature if desired.

    So far so good
My old one had quit working an older student same wattage heater for one of my aquariums the 30 gallon. The old ones were all black and this one is clear glass. Works well, I like that it has a red light when its heating and a green light when its at temp. It’s a preset so keeps heat level regulated so no adjustment just plug it in and wait 30 minutes to acclimate it before plugging in. Great value and a trusted brand.

This heater has worked great after my last one died suddenly. It doesn’t have the option to change the temperature, but for my needs, that is no issue. I do hope there is no chance for the regulation to fail, however, I have it plugged into a temperature controller anyway, so I will know if it goes too high or too low. So far no issues. Using it in a 10-gallon tank.

it works fine. it keeps my tank around 77-78. i only use for a week but seems ok. the betta fish i have dont seem to have any problem with it. the cable is long enough. i would recommend for a small tank 5 gallon max 10 gallon. i wish there was a button to control the temperature as i would want it slightly hotter but this temperature is ok.

Excelente producto!
