Product description
DSUMD Cardinal Bird Feeders – Transform your backyard into a bird art gallery
Squirrel-proof feeders deter animals weighing over 1.1 lbs (500g), although lighter squirrels may still reach the seeds. For better protection, add weight (like a sandbag) under the feeder to make it less accessible to smaller animals. We recommend reviewing the specifications before purchasing.

The all-metal clad barrel is much stronger than traditional PVC or glass feeders, resisting damage from wildlife.

How does this bird feeder keep squirrels out?
Our feeder uses a weight-activated gravity mechanism, weight-sensitive ports automatically close when squirrels over 1.1 lbs (500g) land on it, protecting seed while letting small birds feed. Note: May not deter lighter squirrels or large birds.
How often should I refill the feeder?
With its large 4.4LB seed capacity, this cardinal bird feeder only needs refilling about once a week – perfect for low-maintenance backyard birding!
Is it weatherproof for rain and wind?
Absolutely! The metal bird feeder features watertight seed storage to keep bird food dry in all seasons, making it ideal for outdoor hanging in most climates. (Small gaps may not be avoided—we’re continuously improving!)
What if I need help setting it up?

【4.4LB Large Capacity】Bird feeder for outdoors hanging features a large-capacity design that minimizes refills. The transparent bottle allows easy food monitoring, while properly-sized ports with leak-proof bottoms prevent seed spillage and waste.
[Squirrel-proof design] This squirrel-proof feeder prevents squirrels from stealing bird food. When excessive pressure is detected, the feeder valve automatically closes, and the iron grid effectively blocks squirrels from gnawing, ensuring birds can eat safely.
【Keep Seeds Dry】This squirrel-proof feeder adopts a cylindrical metal structure with no opening on the top, which can effectively prevent rainwater from entering and keep seeds dry, maintaining clean feeding conditions for birds.(Note: Small unavoidable gaps exist. For best dryness, place under sheltered eaves.)
【360-degree Ring Perch】This wild bird seed feeder offers multiple feeding ports to accommodate various birds simultaneously, including finches, cardinals and tits. The 360-degree ring perch provides ample space for birds to perch, feed, and rest comfortably.
【Easy to Fill & Clean & Maintain】Our metal bird feeder’s lift-lid design enables quick and easy food refilling. For cleaning, simply remove the top cover and rinse with water; excess water drains through the bottom filter holes, eliminating reassembly hassles.
Customers say
Customers find the bird feeder’s design genius and appreciate its large capacity, with birds loving it. However, the squirrel protection and functionality receive mixed reviews – while some find it great, others say it doesn’t deter squirrels and doesn’t work well. Moreover, durability and sturdiness are mixed aspects, with some saying it’s built to last through storms while others report seed rotting and wet seeds. Additionally, the spin rate is a concern, with one customer reporting issues with the outer canister blocking feeding ports.

Larger than expected
This arrived packaged well. Itâs much larger than I w expecting, which is a good thing. I appreciate the cage design to keep the squirrels out. Easy to fill and looks great in our tree. The birds seem to enjoy it, too!

NOT SQUIRREL PROOF
This is not the feeder you want to keep the squirrels away. They hang on the mesh sides with their feet and eat away, They don’t have to even touch the perches to get the food. Also, the perches don’t stay in the slots. They are constantly on the ground, so the birds can’t use them. I’m sending it back even though it’s really cute.

Ease of maintenance and birds love it!
Great product! Feeder holds a ton of seed, is sealed so feed never gets wet, and perches give the smaller birds a place to sit while eating and keeps larger birds and squirrels away. No waste or mess. Took a day or two for my regular flock to adjust but now they love it.

Wanted to love this one… overall good feeder
I really want to give this feeder 5 stars, but my birds don’t seem to like the size of the holes at the base of the feeder. It’s great for little birds, but the alignment of the feeder to the feed holes is odd. I have a Squirrel buster feeder that has smaller capacity, but wonderful feeder hole size. This one has better capacity, but the holes are small. Even my sunflower seeds plug up the holes if they get crunched together. The perch is huge, so I expected it to feed big birds. The ease of filling and capacity is GREAT!

Great, until the squirrels broke it
UPDATE 2/25/25: I want to love this feeder because itâs fundamentally solid but I found another defect. It does keep the squirrels out by the weight of the squirrel sliding the outer sleeve down over the feeder holes, but while the squirrel is trying to get in by shaking the feeder, it dislodges the peg from the track inside the sleeve. The peg slides on the track to keep the round openings aligned with the 4 holes in the body of the feeder. So when the peg comes off the track, the sleeve rotates to block the feeding holes after the squirrel leaves. The birds canât get to the birdseed until you turn the feeder on its side and manually pop the peg back into its track. Maybe they can tweak the design a bit.ORIGINAL REVIEW: I did a lengthy search for a truly squirrel-proof feeder and for a few days, I thought this one was the holy grail. The birds loved it and when squirrels tried to access it, the feeding ports closed exactly as designed. Until the weight of a squirrel caused the hanging cable to break at the connector inside the feeder, causing it to fall and giving the local squirrel community an afternoon feast. I wasnât able to find the connector so Iâll find something to repair it with. This is a terrific feeder except for that one weak point.

Holds a lot of seed
I’m very happy with my purchase of this bird feeder. I really don’t have squirrel problems. I bought this because of the large size and construction. The metal is good quality. This is a sturdy feeder. I like that this is large and holds a lot of bird seed no matter what kind I use. It’s easy to fill without having to take it apart. The clear inner tube allows me to see at a glance how much remains. Each feeding port has a perch for the birds to hang on to along with the metal grid. The design doesn’t allow all the rain water to get inside and mold the bird seed.

Not long lasting
Seemed like good quality for this price point but only after 6 months the cable holding the whole thing up has broke. Now it is useless so I would go with another item not as pricey. While it was working it seemed like a decent product. Sometimes got stuck down when squirrels would try to feed so had to go out and push up so birds could feed again.

The Squirrel Proof part of feeder works.
I had to return the first one of these because of the spring being sprung and the feed ports being out of line. This Bird Feeder has two tubes. The outer tube with the wire around it is held up by a spring when its hung. When you hang it, the tube stays up. When a squirrel gets on it, the tube drops over the feed ports thus foiling the squirrel from stealing the seed and it is working extremely well, so far. Just make sure you inspect the feeder when you get it. It should not take a lot of weight to have the outer tube close over the feeding ports, if it does, the spring is too tight. Make sure to hang it from the hanger hook to check it. Hang it and pull down on the outside. A squirrels weight should drop it over the feeding ports.
