Best feeder ever!
The squirrels chewed out the plastic bottom of my previous feeder but this one is all metal and there’s no way squirrels can damage it. The squirrels did manage to dislocate one of the drop-down shields but it was easily fixed. Plus it holds a LOT of seed so there’s no constant refilling. I’ve tried a lot of feeders but this one is the best overall.

Well Constructed But Faulty Design
Very well made and attractive bird feeder. The problem is the roof provides no protection from rain to the area where the birds get seed. As a result, the seed in this area gets moldy, sticks together and prevents fresh seed from reaching the birds. This problem is due to the feeder’s roof having virtually no overhang. A real shame because the feeder is attractive, well constructed and economical.

Pretty but not the best design
I’m giving this 1 star for how pretty it is. It really makes a nice addition to our birdfeeder area! I got the green and love it. I’m giving it a second star because of the design of the knob at the top that holds the roof on. Some others just squeeze the knob shut which often breaks but this one screws on and is good and sturdy. I’m also giving it a 3rd star because here in southern CA we only have ground squirrels. They aren’t as acrobatic as tree squirrels and this has really helped with the squirrels eating all the food. They can get a little bit but then fall off and don’t come back. The reason I can’t give it 5 stars is because the bottom of the feeder is too flat inside. Our little goldfinches can’t reach inside the hole to reach the seed after they get the first bit. The rest of the seed doesn’t fall down like other feeders that have an tall inverted cone inside. So once a day I give it a wiggle and the seeds fall down and into the tray. So it’s working, but it takes some attention.

Very Good Squirrel Deterrent Bird Feeder
This is a sturdy metal bird feeder with a securely attached feed-refill-roof. The squirrels in my yard are very aggressive and have breached most bird feeder roofs by either pulling the feeder apart or by getting the feeder to detach from the hanger and letting it fall to the ground and break apart. This feeder roof screws on and cannot be removed by squirrels. The bird feeding perch is a spring/hinged design that allows birds as heavy as blue jays to eat but closes when heavier animals attempt to eat from the feeder (for us that means squirrels). The system works as expected and for the most part squirrels cannot eat from them. Every now and again there will be an ingenious squirrel that is able to hold onto the Sheppard’s hook and just balance himself long enough to get a mouthful of seeds before he has to abort the mission. Its fun to watch.The only con so far is the spring that closes the feeding trough when too much weight is placed upon it. It is very flimsy as it just a thin wire twisted to perform the spring function. Routinely I have to reattach these springs. The squirrels have discovered that if they keep hanging on the perch the spring eventually pops out of place and the automatic closing function does not work. This sometimes means the squirrels have a feast and eat it all, and sometimes it means the perch closes the feeding troth and no one can eat. I eventually will have to jerry-rig this once the springs are no longer re-attachable.

Clever Bird Feeder Design
This is not only attractive, but is a very cleverly made bird feeder. It’s been hanging on my 2nd story deck since the beginning of the month. The birds have figured out how it works and there is no wasted seed falling on my deck floor. The squirrels are unable to get a grip on it due to the metal and glass design. I threw away my plastic bird feeder. This one is a nice upgrade and definitely worth the money.
