Vacuum-Sealed Moss That Springs to Life
When I first saw the package, I thought there was no way this flat, vacuum-sealed slab could be enough moss for my needsâit looked almost paper-thin. But give it a little time in my naturally humid (around 70%) environment, and it plumped up fast. Iâm not using it for reptiles, thoughâitâs for my âsavage gardenâ of carnivorous plants.Todayâs project was transplanting a sulking purple pitcher plant into a freshly 3D printed swamp pot I designed in ASA filament. The pot has a deep water reservoir to keep the moss constantly saturated, and this sphagnum is doing exactly what I need it to: holding moisture evenly, staying soft, and helping maintain a healthy microclimate around the roots. The moss is impressively cleanâno big twigs or debris to pick outâand it has a neutral, fresh scent. Once hydrated, it turns into a fluffy, workable medium thatâs easy to pack around roots or use as a top dressing. I could see it working just as well in a reptile humid hide, egg-laying area, or amphibian setup, but in my case, itâs keeping the swamp pot evenly moist without breaking down too quickly.Itâs worth noting that while the listing shows a branded bag, mine arrived in a plain clear vacuum-sealed pouch. Thatâs not a complaintâif anything, it kept the product fresh and compact for shipping. Given how much volume you get after rehydrating, itâs easy to underestimate how far one pack will go.So far, my pitcher plant seems much happier in its new moss bed, and Iâve got enough left over for future projects. For plant keepers or herp owners alike, this is a versatile, low-fuss medium that does exactly what itâs supposed to do.

Does not say safe for reptiles on the package.
Received package quickly. No where does the package received does it say it’s safe for reptiles. Package shown is not was received. Thin, flat vacuum packaging. Looks really clean.

Wow I love this stuff!
Gorgeous moss that fluffs up wonderfully and is pillowy soft! Smells nice and fresh and it’s just so pretty. Has that nice creamy beige look to it and comes in quite long strands. I used some in a terrarium for baby geckos and they seem to love hiding in it. Decent price in my opinion between quality and amount, after using some of it I still could fill up a gallon ziploc with squeezed dry but lightly fluffed moss.I’ve had cheaper moss (per weight unit), but not many are as soft as this. Great for reptiles, definitely, also great for any other kind of critter or to wrap around Kodama (which is what I will use the rest on). Love it!!!

Fluffs up nicely
I’ll admit that I was a bit surprised on how this arrived — the moss has been vacuum sealed super flat, resembling a piece of cardboard. Once you break a chunk of it off and start rehydrating it, it really does spring up! It soaks up water quickly and the volume increases dramatically. The moss itself is fluffy and clean, without any sticks and debris to pick out. It is soft and smells fresh/natural as moss should. I have no qualms with using this for my plants and animals — quality stuff at a good value!

Not good for terrariums/reptiles
This moss molded in my crested gecko tank.I have other premium moss I use for orchids and it never molds, but itâs expensive. My advice is to spend the extra money and get the really good moss.

Nice,clean,soft moss!
I am using this moss in my snails enclosure and it’s great! It comes vacuum sealed and compressed. You soak it for 5-10 minutes and squeeze out excess water before adding to the enclosure(same as any other moss really). Its very soft, softer than zoo med brand that I’ve been using. It has a natural, light and clean smell.I haven’t found any plastic or other bad materials in the bag I received. So that’s awesome! It’s much better, seems cleaner and more affordable than what I’ve been using and there are no dyes in it either, all natural.Pretty impressed at the amount you get and quality for the price.I will definitely order more of this moss as long as it’s still available to purchase.Very happy and snails are too!Can definitely recommend this moss.

Good quality sphagnum moss that seems to have the larger roots and such filtered out
This sphagnum moss was packaged well (vacuum packed), rehydrates easily, smells clean, looks fresh, and seems like they did a good job of removing the larger twigs/roots/tendrils that I often find in moss. I appreciate not having to pick them out.I’m using it in a humid hide for a boa and it’s working exactly as intended. I also mix a little in with my potted plants that like a wetter soil.Overall, I don’t have any complaints about the product. I do wish it were sold in larger quantities, since this is something I use pretty regularly.
