Came back to edit this: I really don’t like it.
I had written a lengthy (and positive) review for this device the other day, but, admittedly, that was before I had thoroughly tested it out to see if it met my needs. So now I’m here to edit that and backtrack.I’d mentioned in my review that it has an over-heat and under-heat alarm. Which, it claims to, but its “alarm” is simply the digits flashing on the display. Not even a single audible “beep” or anything, let alone a series of beeps that could actually alarm someone into realizing that their animal could be dying. So disregard any praises about a useful alarm, because this one doesn’t have one at all.Additionally, I was excited that this unit had a timer function (Outlet C). I’ve been having trouble with my other outlet timers (those crappy manual ones where you push down the little plastic tabs for the working times), so I decided I would finally try this one out and see if I could get my lighting all set up the way I need it.That mixes in with another praise I would like to rescind — the manual. I had previously said that the manual looked confusing at first glance but that it made sense overall. While that was true in a way, just from reading it, it absolutely wasn’t true when it came to putting it into practice. There are quite a few parts that make no sense at all and have no logical explanation.I had used a different digital outlet timer for my Daytime lights (the UVB fixtures and basking bulbs for two snake enclosures), so I was needing a digital timer for nighttime, for the Ceramic Heat Emitters. I need everything on a 12-hour schedule. I was able to program the other timer to turn on the Daytime lights at 8:30AM and off at 8:30PM, so I needed this one to turn on the Nighttime ones at 8:30PM and turn them off at 8:30AM.And therein lies the problem.I don’t know if the device is incapable of this command (in which case it’s useless), or if I’m just too stupid to figure out how to program it (in which case the manual is useless). But I’m pretty sure it’s the first one.In trying to program Outlet C, for some reason it just refused to let me input the Start time as 20:30 and the Stop time as 08:30 (because it’s on 24-hr format). It would only let me stay within the specific 24-hour block. So when I would try to program the Start time at 20:30, the End time would only go up to 23:59, then would go back to 20:30. Because the End time can’t be before the Start time.Which I guess makes sense in a way, except that it makes this absolutely useless for anything that you need running overnight consistently. Now, each outlet does offer four different schedule settings for the 24-hr period, so, in theory, I might be able to set C-1 to run from 20:30 until 23:59, and then schedule C-2 to run from 00:00 to 08:30. I might try that and see if it works, but I’d rather not have the nighttime CHEs turn off and then immediately back on (which could potentially damage them), when they should just be able to run for the full 12 hours without this annoying issue in the first place.Plus there are still a few icons and numbers that the manual doesn’t explain, so that’s another pain in the butt.So basically I have to rescind everything that I’d praised about this thermostat/timer before. It’s more confusing than it needs to be, and when it comes to the health and safety of my animals, I don’t want to mess around with this complicated crap.(Also, they really shouldn’t call blinking digits an “alarm.”)

Very good thermostat, but a bit techy too
Ok, on one hand I like this thermostat a lot. It gives you great control over things and it has a lot of bells and whistles. On the other hand, it feels almost like I’m doing basic coding on a computer. There is a lot to this thing. I feel like there is so much ability packed into this thermostat and that is a good thing. Unfortunately, I have other models that do less but are so much simpler to practically just plug and play. Overall, it is a GREAT thermostat. But be ready to go through the instructions in order to understand how it all works.

    Nicely made and works great.
Easy to setup and use. It does exactly what I expected it to do. Does it well. I am only using it to run 2 different items and it works great for that. Overall, I am happy with it.

    Automatic Reptile Plug
I never thought much of these until I got a tree frog. The probes for plugs A & B install easily and there is plenty of cable to get them where they are needed. The sensors are pretty accurate when checked against other meters. The switching works without issue. You can set the temperature and the variance to tune it to your specific pet needs. The panel is easy to operate and read but you need to read the manual to make sure you understand it and for proper settings ( I tried to do it without reading them and it wasn’t a good time).

The cord lengths are generous for various placement options
One of the stand out features of this 3 channel power hub with programmable timers is the length of the cords for the two probes and also the length of the cord from the 3 outlet box to the LCD screen. The cord for the LCD screen is a little over 6ft and the cords for the temperature probs are both almost 6ft (69 inches). This gives you plenty of cord length to work with when setting up in a reptile enclosure. We can run two heat lamps and regulate the temperature at both of their locations with the probes. *please make sure you use bulbs that can be dimmed or you will get an on off strobe effect. The third channel we are using with a uvb fixture with a set time of turning on and off. The LCD screen is elongated giving you the ability to see all three channel configurations. The LCD screen is also backlit so it makes it easy to read and reference both day and night. It has a 300 watt max usage for each individual outlet. Using each outlet handling a max watt load of no more than 200 watts is the most ideal use and will keep it working at it optimum without any chance of overworking. You can change your timers and switch between Fahrenheit/Celsius easily on the LCD screen which is use friendly and not overly complicated to set up and use. We will see how it works as far as longevity goes. So far it is in good working order without any issues in keeping temperatures within a 3-5 degree margin of error. You will have to work with the probes placement to get the best efficiency based on your set up.

    Next Level Theromstat/timer
I’m very pleased with this, and so far, feel that it is worth the higher price. This theromstat has a built-in fuse which will trip if there is a surge – which is really important when keeping reptiles. The interface is “next level” for a thermostat, and although not particularly user-friendly, it gives an extremely wide range of options for timing, heat, and day/night cycles. I was able to program it to relatively simple settings, but it took some time to get it all set up – and it’s absolutely impossible without using their instructions. I plan to buy this again in the future, assuming it holds up well.
