Product description

Directions for Use
Line the bedding inside the pet’s habitat. Remove and replace as used. Damp bedding can cause urine scald, so we recommend removing damp spots or soiled areas between changes and replacing the bedding every one to two days (or fluffing to prevent large damp areas where your animal stands). Store in a dry place.

Breaks Down Organically
Made of only natural materials, the bedding breaks down easily for safe disposal in your garden, compost, or organic waste bin.

Caring for Your Pet and the Planet

PERFECT FOR SNAKES….
It was time to order a good quality bedding for my Ball Python since my last purchase of bedding ran out. My usual Aspen Bedding worked well, BUT, for what it now costs on Amazon is 32.95 for 24 quarts. This product is basically the same with a bit larger “chips” that provide good coverage and absorption. This 141 Liter bag provides the same “Volume” as SIX BAGS of my past favorite, which, when you “do the math”, equates a cost of only about $5.83 per 24 quarts, the volume of the mentioned Aspen Bedding. (141 L = 148 Q). The choice was clear; buying a similar quality bedding for abut ONE SIXTH the price was a no-brainer. It is packaged with a high degree of compression that expands when digging out several handfuls for terrarium cleaning. With two cleanings so far, there is barely a “dent” in the massive bag of shavings which should last for a very long time. Overall, a VERY GREAT value….

Smells like mulch or animal waste
Great but the batch I got smells like mulch or a farm with animal waste. I do like the bedding better, at least for rats. The aspen pieces are bigger so they donât get caught/imbedded in the carpet and such. Itâs also less dusty but still have to sift it first. I did find a few large/sharp pieces in there but I just picked them out. I check anyways when I sift itI just canât stand the smell! And now my rats smell like cow you know what. I hope I just got a bad batch maybe? Will try again for sure but wonât a third if it still smells like this!

Soft White Hamster Bedding â Low Dust, Cozy, Easy to Clean, Great Value
I was recommended this by someone, and Iâm so glad I listened. Itâs not that dusty; you get quite a bit for this block, and itâs very soft. I would say great value for money, and functionality is perfect. Itâs easy to clean up; the color is a pretty white too.

Great substrate for growing oyster mushrooms on
Put in a 5 gal bucket. Dump a giant stock pot of boiling water into bucket until it begins to overflow.Snap tight lid on and wrap in a warm blanket or sleeping bag. Let sit overnight before pouring off the extra water..With rubber gloves pack the chipslurry into a second 5 gal bucket with 1/4 inch holes drilled every 3 or so inches all over it (along bottom, all ip and down the sides, and the lid) to make a three inch layer.Add in chunks of broken up oyster mushroom spawn. Cover with more chips. Make an aspen chip layer cake of chops then spawn and repeat until you get to the top. Topmost layer be sure to make it the chips. This is a ghetto but viable pasteurization method for a large bucket’s worth of mushroom substrate. Wont 100% sterilize, but it’ll kill off substantial amounts of competing molda, fungi, bacteria on the chips as well as soften the wood cellulose making it easier for mycelium to break down and penitrate.Place in a shaded but slightly warmer room temperature area of your house. Garage. Shed. Whatever.Let sit for 2 to 4 weeks before opening up the lid and looking for mycelium establishment.Ive made dozens of these using these chips. They can be stackable if you have several buckets.Use the internet to figure out how tk trigger a change in their environment suited to force them to begin pinning and fruiting out MASSIVE flushes of oyster shrooms. And yes those tiny drilled holes are more than big enough to accommodate the biggest effing mushroom clusters.Rock on!

Blinded Guinea Pig
The photo is after a week of treatments. After my most recent batch arrived, I cleaned my enclosure for my guinea pigs as usual. A week later, I noticed one of my pigs had a laceration on his eyeball. Nearly $1k in vet bills later, I go through the enclosure to see what may have caused this. I found 3 giant shards of wood. My guinea pig is now blind in one eye and Iâm continuing treatment to save what is left of his eyeball. This is a huge safety issue and I do not recommend this bedding for anyone who values their animals safety, comfort, and wanting to avoid dusting an entire room after putting down this bedding. Please avoid.UPDATE:He had to have his eye removed due to infection spreading so quickly and how deep the wound was. Because of his age, it was extremely worrisome. An additional $2k in surgery later, he is safe and recovering fast. Please, for the safely and health of your companions, -PLEASE- DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

My chinchillas absolutely love this bedding. Easily one of the best beddings to purchase in the UK for chinchillas. Safe for them to chew and easy to clean up!
Mandy –
Awesome amount of shavings, great quality and very absorbent. Aspen is the safest bedding to use for your critters!
Raptordave –
I use this product in the bottom of my Parrotlet and Parakeets cages and they both love it. They like pushing it about and covering their heads in it. Itâs far safer and softer than pine shavings, which I understand can be toxic to parrots when wet. So Iâm really happy that Aspen shaving are less harmful and as I said my birds love it. A bit expensive but my birds are worth it.
