Perfect fit for my Lab
This harness works great for my Lab as he isn’t able to wear anything around his neck due to laryngeal paralysis. He also has a few lipomas (fatty lumps) on his chest that make a tradional harness difficult to fit. This harness worked out perfectly! It’s easy to get on and off and I love the multiple rings and handle. The quality is great, especially for the price.

Really good harness!
I really like the ShawnCo harness for my beagle. I needed a harness because he is stubborn and likes to pull on his leash, but I didn’t want him to hurt his neck. I searched for something that looked light and comfortable so he could leave it on while around the house. I also wanted something easy to put on cuz he sometimes fights attaching harnesses. This harness so far has met those requirements. Initially he didn’t want to wear a harness as usual, but got used to it after a couple days of wearing. Now he doesn’t pay attention to it after I put it on, and doesn’t fight me to put it on. He actually seems to walk into the head loop by himself and then I just snap the belly belt and we’re off! Real easy.All honesty though there is one drawback , but it is not a game changer. It does tend to slide to the side a little bit when he is sideways pulling. It did pull off over his head a couple times when we first got it. Once again he is stubborn and sometimes I have to pull him a little straight forward to get him moving again. These issues can be greatly reduced by making sure it is on tight enough and using the side hooks . Make sure it is snug when first setting up, keeping 2 fingers space under the belt loop or it will slide more to the side and possibly pop off when pulling straight forward. Using the side loops if he is consistently on one side when walking helps the side slide , but if he is on both side or turns around a lot the middle is still the best option . I still like it better than any harness I’ve had him in yet . I also got the white marble pattern which adds a little style to his look being mostly black and brown . “Arlo” and myself love it!

We took off the choke chain and put this on our 100 lb Lab who loves to pull when walking. No more choking. He is still strong and does pull, but he walks better and the side lead loops work to divert him. This is not going to magically cure your strong puller but It won’t crush his esophagus and it’s easy to use. Our dog is young and we are still working on training, if you have some basic commands like- stop, sit, and stay, down I think this is a great harness for your pet. If you have zero control over your large strong pet, this won’t fix your problem.

REVIEW UPDATE:A ShawnCo representative, Ali, contacted me about the experience I had with the Essential Harness, expressing sincerest apologies. Ali asked for more details about the issue to better understand what happened. Ali also explained why they have the velcro on the chest strap fasten inwards toward the dog’s chest, which is to prevent the strap from loosening over time and the possibility of the dog escaping the harness. ShawnCo issued a full refund for the harness, and 24 hours later Ali contacted me once again to advise me that they have eliminated the velcro closure on all of their halters. They now have a slider on the chest strap for easier adjustment and loosening if required. I was surprised that they were able to do this so quickly. I looked up the harnesses and sure enough every style of halter they sell on Amazon now features the new style of chest strap on the harnesses.Now, this is what I call stellar customer service! They obviously love dogs and respect their customers, operating their business with a safety over profit mentality.I have ordered the Essential Pro Harness and should receive it by this evening. Can’t wait. It is a very high quality and good-looking harness and knowing that it has been redesigned to prevent such an experience ever happening again is very reassuring.********I do NOT recommend this harness for small dogs. It’s very dangerous. I had to cut the harness off my 6 month old yorkie when he got tangled up. The problem is the front chest strap. It feeds through a ring and doubles over so that the velcro side is inward facing the dog’s chest. When I first got this harness I recall having a difficult time adjusting it to fit my dog because of how it fastens via velcro from the inside. I had to remove the harness several times to adjust the width of the chest strap so that it fit properly. I wish I had returned it at that time. The pull side of the velcro should not be inside facing the chest, but outside away from the chest. My dog’s left foreleg became entangled which caused the harness to hug his chest and I could not fit my skinny fingers inside the chest strap and had no space in which to pull it way to release the velcro. Hope this makes sense. I gave the harness to my dog to use as a chew toy, and I switched to a step through harness which is way safer. All attachments, i.e. clips, velcro, are on top of the dogs back. And step throughs are cheaper as well. Some people criticize the velcro as wearing out, but so what? You can get a new one for $12. The only good thing I can say about this harness is that it’s well made and looks good. Perhaps this harness is safe for large dogs, but it is certainly not for small dogs with tiny legs.

This harness is well madeI bought a size medium for my two Staffordshire bull terrier’s.Although they are adjustable.Easy to adjust to the size you need.I mainly bought them because of the 3 D ring’s. I use a coupling chain to walk my dog’s together on one lead.Very pleased with the harness and would recommend

This harness arrived quickly and is good quality. Very comfy for my pup and easy to get on and off…..provided your pup stands still for a second. LOL
