PROTECT: Seachem StressGuard is a premium slime coat protection product, working to reduce stress and ammonia toxicity whenever handling or transporting fish.
HEAL: Seachem StressGuard binds to exposed protein in wounds to promote healing of injured fish while reducing the likelihood of primary and secondary infections.
TREATMENT: The protein active colloidal agent in StressGuard actively seeks out any wounds, abrasions, or places where exposed proteins are and attaches to this area, helping to directly deliver the disinfectant in the product and start the healing process.
AQUARIUM CARE: Use 1/2–1 capful (2.5–5 mL) of StressGuard to every 40 L (10 US gallons) every 24 hours until signs of stress have abated or healing is complete. A dose of StressGuard may be safely doubled.
SAFETY: StressGuard has a pH of 7.0. It will not affect the pH of an aquarium, even at large doses, allowing for safe use in a reef or planted aquarium containing invertebrates

Customers say

Customers find this aquarium water treatment to be a phenomenal product that works better than similar alternatives, helping fish recover from nipping and heal torn fins. Moreover, it effectively reduces stress during water quality fluctuations and is particularly good for acclimating new fish, with customers noting it lasts for years. However, the product receives mixed feedback regarding staining.

Underrated, worth adding to your collection of water treatments.
Underrated product, I love having this on hand and I truly believe it works. It’s nothing extraordinary but it has been a great addition to my routine. I use it after introducing new fish and every water change along with prime and stability but I find it most effective when I notice any signs of stress in my fish, especially if water parameters don’t show anything out of the ordinary. I use it as intended and I believe it works but I really knew I liked this product when some of my mollies that have had random times of what looks like fungal infections like the small white patches and/or clamped fins (I believe stress induced). I add the stress guard once I notice it immediately and then within 1-2 days they’re back to normal.

    this saved my fish’s lives
first of all, I do not usually leave reviews.. but I just wanted to put this out here in case anyone else finds himself in a similar situation and aren’t sure what to do. I have very large South American cichlids in an outdoor pond and naturally sometimes they fight. Anytime I see anyone with any injuries I always dose the pond with this bc it’s safe for the other fish and the plants in there. It’s essentially harmless to use and can pretty much only help. I’ve used this probably dozen times for small injuries and never had any problems. This particular time was a true test of its efficacy. Two of my adult cichlids had the worst wounds I’ve seen in any of my tanks. A blood parrot was missing like a third of their jaw/face from locking jaws with someone and getting their face bitten, and a different fish had what looked like a stab mark (??) that was like almost a full inch long with some weird opaque white stuff coming out of it 😭 These 2 fish don’t bother each other at all so it may have been a coincidence idk but it was such a nightmare and I did not think either of them would come back from their wounds. I considered euthanizing them, but honestly, I didn’t have any way to actually euthanize fish that size.. so I ordered a couple bottles of this overnight and prayed for the best. It says it’s safe to double the dose so I did and within three days, the fishes face grew back almost perfectly and the other fish with the stab wound already had a visible closed scar. I was so impressed (and thrilled!!) It says it has colloids that bind to exposed proteins in wounds, and after my personal experience and consulting some experts online, I truly believe this product does what it says, and is worth every penny.

    A must have for Discus
So just to clear things up for anyone who is unsure. Paraguard & stress guard can be used together. I recently got back into discus and in knowing how sensitive they can be I wasn’t sure what to use during quarantine. I watched a couple of videos & did some reading & reviews on line & the paraguard was highly recommended. There wasn’t anyone using it with stress guard but I figured I’d give it a try. So here is how I used it. I ordered the first 7 discus & I didn’t do as much research on the seller as I should have (I won’t mention sellers name but just believe cheaper is NOT the way to go) anyway when I got them they were skinny, doing a whole lot of rubbing and 2 had ich. That being said I turned the heat up to 92°(this high for fish who can handle high temp only) & treated with both stress guard & paraguard for 2 weeks (put temp slowly back down to 84° when done). All fish survived & are doing great. Now as for the second batch of 9 discus . They came in healthy (more reputable seller) so I did just 3 days of both. Now if you are doing a 2 week quarantine like you should if you see any trouble you can restart both until you see they are doing better (2 weeks if sick is best). Make sure you remove carbon from filter when using paraguard. If your using stress guard alone for injury you do not need to remove carbon. I hope this helps . I highly recommend both products

Recommended to Me by a Friend
This Stressgaurd was recommended to me by a friend when I bought my fish tank. The fish were lethargic or glass surfacing due to stress or the new environment. They said this is an additive (non-toxic) you can put in the water to make them relax. When I first ordered it, it came in a box with other items and didn’t have a plastic cap so the seal got broken and spilled inside the box. Amazon was nice enough to replace it and the second bottle ALSO came with no cap but the seal was intact (I’ve received other bottles like this for my aquarium and none of them have caps for some reason…). I will say that the Stressgaurd does work; you can instantly see a change in the fish. Now, the label says you can’t “overdose” the fish with this but I would be careful about how much and how frequent you use it. I try to limit it to twice a week, if needed. The stress guard creates a type of film in the water (like a water coat) so over using it can cause a bad water balance. Also, the liquid is blue and will dye the aquarium pieces and tubing just so you know.

    Great when adding new fish
I generally only use this when I’m introducing new fish, but it does work to help them acclimate without the risk of high stress causing them distress.

Had a Betta fish with fin rot. I made sure to change his water 1 gallon in the morning, 1 gallon at night in ( 3 gallon quarantine tank with heater a bubbler bare bottom to clean out poop with turkey baster everyday)adding 1 ml of stressguard in his water every 24 hours. 1/2 teaspoon AQUARIUM salts DILUTED in each new gallon of water added. treating water with PRIME ( 2 drops per new gallon each plus 2 drop every 24 hours for the gallon that stayed in the quarantine tank)The results were almost immediate! He stopped shedding, splitting his fins, getting his color back. 4 weeks later all healed.Lovin it!
