FILTRATION: Purigen ranges in color from almost white (cream) to light yellow. Seachem Purigen is not a mixture of ion exchangers or adsorbents, but a unique macro-porous synthetic polymer that removes soluble and insoluble impurities from water.
SELECTIVITY: Seachem Purigen is an organic filtration resin that works hard to remove nitrogenous compounds and waste produced by fish, corals, and even plants, making your water crystal clear.
CAPACITY: Being both spherical and macroreticular, Seachem Purigen has microscopic pores that increase its usable surface area to many times that of a purely spherical resin.
REGENERATION: Once Seachem’s Purigen is exhausted, it can be regenerated with a solution of bleach and water. The bleach will literally “burn off” the organics that have been removed from the tank.
SAFETY: Some slime coat products may permanently foul Purigen and render regeneration difficult. Do not reuse if odor of bleach/chlorine is detectable. In case of doubt, soak beads in small quantity of water and test for residual chlorine with a chlorine test kit.

Game changer!
My 300-gallon tank turned into a giant pot of manzanita coffee thanks to some gorgeous but tannin-heavy driftwood. The water was so dark I could barely see the fish unless they were right up against the glass. I knew the tannins werenât harmful, but I wanted my water clear again without spending a fortune on expensive RO water changes.So I started looking for solutions and came across Seachem Purigen. Given how bad the water quality had gotten, I added triple the recommended amount to my sump filter. Within just a few hours, I noticed a small but noticeable differenceâway more effective than swapping out my sump socks multiple times. Every day after that, the water kept improving and getting clearer. Now, a week later, the tank is just about clear. Iâll be refreshing my Purigen later this week and hope the fresh batch makes things pristine.What was once murky brown is now mostly clean with fully restored visibility. I can see my fish from across the room again instead of squinting at the glass. Purigen lived up to the hype for meâit seriously saved my tank without the hassle or expense of constant water changes.Iâll definitely be using this all the time moving forward. Good value and worth the investment
Exceptional product. It is essential when maintaining pristine water parameters in an aquarium with a high bio-load. Keep a close eye on its color change which indicates its time to recharge or change it. There is no carbon content in this product. Helps to control odors because of its absorption properties. So far, it is lasting approximately 4-6 months in my high bio-load tank. That helps in determining its ease of use, cycle speed, and color change that happens with time. One consideration, this product really absorbs, if you are using Mopani wood which releases tannins in the water to help bring down pH levels, it does absorb them too. My water is now crystal clear.

This little bag works wonders for my aquarium. It keeps my levels of ammonia nitrites and nitrates down, as well as my water crystal clear. It lasts quite awhile in my 75 gallon cichlid tank.Be careful when recharging and follow the instructions to a tee.

5 stars for me. My tank cycled very quickly since adding this in, and filtered out a HUGE amount of tannins because Iâm dumb and didnât think the boiling/soaking warning was for real. Itâs so intense that I canât even get a little tiny tannin tint that Iâd like while itâs in my filter. It does its job very well. Be aware that with a huge tannin load, you will go through this faster. Mines dark brown after 2 weeks. Yes it can be âregeneratedâ but please do some googling before doing this. Iâve read some horror stories and I just repurchased instead as itâs really not a bad price. It also filters out sand and my soil substrate that Iâm constantly kicking up trying to get my plants planted. I have a very low flow betta tank and it hasnât affected its filtering capacity at all.

What price will you pay to see your fish clearly? Had a tank that would NOT clear up. 35 years of keeping & breeding fish, and this one new tank just would not clear up after cycling. Never… 4 months so I tried Purigen as a last resort, WhaLa!! 3 days later, clearer water,7 days & I could see straight thru to the back and from the sides, all their beautiful colors. My fish were always happy, I wasn’t, and my perimeters always checked out good, never lost any fish… This is a magic bullet though I understand all the things that can go wrong in a tank. Try it , you’ll love it.

Best out there at a price
This product really works and itâs a must to get that extra level clear water in your aquarium. The package is just a small white pouch that appears to be some sort of beads inside it. Make sure you wash it real good before adding it to your filtration system and make sure itâs after your main filters. It should be the last thing your water passes through. You might want to also order water test kits to make sure your tank is cycling correctly before adding this filter. All in all itâs a great product. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because itâs expensive for 1 small pouch that you have to replace monthly. Some say you can regen it but it comes with a risk. It does make the water incredibly clear. This was on a small 10 gallon tank. Photo attached below

This stuff has been magic for 20 years. I use it in every one of my tanks and highly recommend it. Good value for the money in this bulk pack. Just bought some small filter bags and loaded them up. Fish stay health and water flow is not affected at all. Keeps your water quality sparkly!

Useful!!
Highly recommended for removing tannins. In minimal doses, it leaves the water super clear and clean without removing excess nitrates. I’ve had it for two months now and it’s still like the first day. Must have in every aquarium.
