I’ve been an aquarium enthusiast since I was a teen in the 70’s-80’s. This old guy never gets tired of fish or finding cool accessories for them.I have a new 40 gallon “breeder” tank. A breeder is lower so there’s more surface area for the fish, but more importantly, Mrs AF is petite, so she can reach in to help clean the tank! Also, while I’m not a fish breeder, I have a big catfish population that’s been with me for years, and I don’t like the older ones to have to swim too far up to get air. Quit rolling your eyes! Sanitizing the water for healthy, happy fish is obviously really important to me.My intention for choosing this was to keep bacteria, viruses and algae out of the filter output hose, while still maintaining all the good stuff in the filtration system. Review-wise, this is an invisible process, so there’s not going to be a “before and after” results scenario. What I can report on is if the controller operates and its ease of use, if there are leaks using the inline hose method, and how installation went.TAKEAWAYS:- Don’t put the controller in water. You probably know this, but old folks like to overkill on warning everyone about everything under the sun anyway. We’ve seen a lot.- Bulb is replaceable! YES!- You get 3 extra gaskets.- The device should accommodate a variety of hoses easily. It fits my black plastic Fluval hoses, clear 17mm hoses and 13mm hoses. NICE.- Controller has a peel off adhesive sticker for convenience if you want to display it. I don’t know about the longevity of it, or if it removes clean, but you’d need to take the usual precautions on applying it to a clean, dry surface of course. Instructions say you can stick on the back of the outside of the tank or a table.- Power cord to controller is about 3.5 feet long.- Cord to sterilizer is about 4 feet long.- The price as of this writing was very reasonable at $40, in my opinion. Aquarium gadgets are often outrageously overpriced.- The controller worked, there are no leaks that were the fault of this product (thanks for the garbage hoses, Fluval) and assembly was simple and straightforward.A LITTLE LOVE AND ALOHA:You’ll need a little love if you have a Fluval canister filter with the black hoses, using an inline installation method. I had to use an extra hose and fitting to make the connection and will have to use silicone (aquarium safe) to make the hose portion leak proof. Also a hose clamp on each end of the product for an extra measure of leakage protection. All that being said, I may end up totally replacing the Fluval hoses with food safe vinyl 16mm hoses which would fit over the fittings perfectly with no issue.

I ordered this for one of my more difficult aquariums.The particular aquarium of mine tends to get nasty and dirty even with filters and proper water changes.This arrived on time and without damage.The product packaging is nice.All the parts appear to be of a high quality, and use good materials.Was easy to hook up and get started.The controls were easy to understand, and they worked.Tubes all slid on easy and held secure.It is a small size, so not too bulky. I mounted quickly.I ran for couple weeks, and noticed a slight improvement.So time will tell, and I will try and update after 6months.It is a great price for what you get, and if this works long term.At this point I would tend to recommend.

A submersible UV sterilizing light to be attached to a pump
I am super excited to get this as I had been looking into a way to keep my dogs very large water fountain extra clean as the last thing my senior dog needs is to catch a bacteria, virus etc fro the water. We clean it completely weekly-10 days and have one of those filtration levels with one of those new filters BUT Iâve wanted a UV light to kill off bacteria, viruses etc between cleans as filters mostly take out pieces of food or bits of hair and not germs. So this is exactly what I wanted.1. We have a stainless steel fountain but I still didnât want any risk of exposure through where you see the water level (yes I know I am a little nuts) and this is entirely enclosed.2. While the fountain is large the UV unit needs to be able to be submerged. As long as one ensures that the control is not at risk of getting wet (and the cords are more than long enough to make sure it doesnât just like we do with the plug for the pump it is wrapped around the base of a grandfather clock and then plugged in a good five feet from the fountain (thank you long cords.)3. I wasnât entirely certain on this when I looked at it but somewhat assumed it needed a pump to runThe water through it and I am either going to run a pump we arenât currently using just for this or figure a way to work it into our current setup which shouldnât be to hard. If this is successful I will definitely show pictures- I know this is not what it is advertised for but every UV fountain Iâve found is designed for cats and tiny. So Iâm hoping this works I donât plan on running it 24 hours per day a couple hours will be way better than what it is now. It just depresses me that we are triple filtering (including a water pitcher with a great filter and UV as the last filter)âand they run over when I pour it in but I feel like it loses its fresh / cleanliness too soon and I want to do the best I can for them.This looks to be well made after reading the manual, I understand how to use it and the quality looks to be good (they listed things to inspect before using- that the bulb was intact, no rattling etc.). I will update if / when it is put together but either way it is nice to know there are better ways to keep their water clean beyond the filters that water just pours through barely touching the cleansing media.

Good 10w UV light for aquariums
This is a pretty decent 10w UV light for an aquarium. It comes with different hose barb fittings/sizes which is convenient. Seems to be durable and good quality. You do need to connect it to a pump to circulate water through it to be effective so you need to know what you’re doing. Easy to use and functional.

Great for Reducing Algae Growth and Keeping Clear Water
I am running a 36-gallon aquarium, and I started having a large algae growth problem. Upon doing some research, I found that this light might be helpful and decided to give it a try. I am very glad I did! The light appears to be good quality, it had two sizes of connectors to ensure it fits properly inline on my canister filter hose. The instructions were easy to follow, and the box came with the parts needed to set it up. The timer function is great, so you do not have to worry about turning it on or off or running it for too long. Once installed, I did a light manual cleaning of my aquarium and I am very happy to report that it has kept the algae growth to a minimum, overall a great value
