Great Value and Sturdy Clamps, Just Measure Your Cord Length
As a reptile keeper, you can never have too many reliable dome lamps, and I picked up this 2-pack to use for a new quarantine enclosure. My initial impression is that these are well-built fixtures that offer fantastic value for the price.âThe construction is solid all around. The 5.5-inch domes have a clean, highly reflective interior surface that does a great job of directing heat and light downward. Most importantly, the sockets are ceramic, which is a critical safety feature for handling the high temperatures of basking bulbs or ceramic heat emitters. I’ve tested one with a 100-watt heat bulb and it works flawlessly. The standout negative feature is the clamp/kick stand thing; the spring is weak and the grip is insecure, you could use it maybe to hang the lights from but offer than that they’re pretty useless. The on/off switch located on the cord is also a convenient touch.Another critique, and the reason for withholding a 4th star, is the length of the power cord. While functional, it feels a bit restrictive. In a setup where your power strip isn’t located directly adjacent to or underneath the fixture, you will likely need a small extension cord. An extra foot or two of length on the cord would have made these more versatile.âOverall, this is a high-quality set that performs its primary function very well. The build quality provides peace of mind, and getting two in a pack is a great deal. I would happily recommend them, with the simple caveat to double-check if the cord length will work for your specific setup and that you have a setup where you could either set these down flat on a metal screen or hang them off you have enough height.âNote: I only give 5 stars if something is truly special or 5 star worthy for something that is above and beyond with no apparent drawbacks. 4 stars is a great rating from me. 3 is: the product is fine but meh. 2 or less I’m not happy and I’ll explain why.âHappy hunting!âReviewed in the United States on September 26, 2025Vine Customer Review of Free Product

better than store brand. have had plenty of petco and petsmart store-brand housings and their ceramic cracks over time fairly easily. the ceramic on these are higher quality and tolerate many heat and cooling cycles, which i accomplished with a mapgas torch to failure.
