I got this for a chick brooder coop to warm them without making light. This does not come with a heater element or bulb, but it handles standard heater bulbs great. I put a ceramic element in it that makes steady heat with no light. The mesh is helpful for saftey to keep some room around the heater element. The clamps seem sturdy. Overall good product

Throws plenty of heat, but the cage doesn’t get too hot to touch. Still holding together well after 3 months. Only issue is that I have no idea how to use the clamp and there are zero instructions.

Decently Built. Bad design for snakes as they can wrap the top of the hanging fixture and still get burnt. Didn’t get around to the install (not installed) until after the return date. Oops. I’ll find another use.

This product stopped working, 4 days after the return window!! The switch is permanently in the off position and won’t click to on anymore. I am using the correct ceramic heat emitter bulb so I know that it is this product that is at fault. I would never get this product again, and very frustrated at the return window. Spend the money to go to a reptile store and get one that will work!!

As soon as I installed a bulb in this light fixture I noticed the light flickers off and on when it’s touched or slightly moved. I tried playing around with the tightness of the bulb and the parts of the fixture itself, but it made no difference. I installed the fixture to the ceiling in my tortoise’s cage anyway, and put it on a timer. Since it’s up high, he can’t get at it, however, it still flickers when there’s any vibration (like lifting the cage lid). I don’t know if this is a problem with all of these light fixtures or If I just lucked out and got a bad one.
Travel bug –
This is a great little cage to protect your heat lamp from damaging something else (touch) and by helping protect the bulb itself from impacts etc. The cage is simple, has a catch to open the bottom to allow putting the bulb into the ceramic socket. Its well built. I didn’t know how hot the metal would get but its not too bad with a 75 watt heat bulb installed. I think 150 watts would be fine, but not sure if a 250 or above would make the cage too hot or not. The ceramic base is fine, and its not that the wire can’t handle it but it might still be hot/dangerous to the touch at that level. Overall very pleased. Just realize their is no reflector so, some of your heat is wasted.
