Great product a few spelling errors
I picked up the ReptiKing all in one reptile heating solution for my baby ball python in its 25 gallon tank, and so far, it is doing a terrific job. The 5.5 inch metal dome houses a heat resistant ceramic E26 socket rated up to 150 W, and the built in dimming PID thermostat lets me dial in the temperature just right without worrying about overheating. It gets to basking temps quickly and holds steady, and I appreciate the energy efficient design and simplicity of setup. Plug it in, set the dial, and go.Now comparing it to Zoo Med’s Repti Basking Spot Lamp, which is a popular competitor: Zoo Med uses a patented double reflector design that delivers up to 35 percent more concentrated heat and light for a tighter and hotter basking zone. That makes it great if you want a small, intense hotspot, especially for diurnal reptiles. In contrast, ReptiKing’s dome is more versatile, compatible with ceramic heat emitters, basking bulbs, or deep heat projectors up to 150 W, and its thermostat gives precise output control, something Zoo Med’s bulbs alone do not offer.Personally, I like that ReptiKing combines heat control, flexibility, and safety in one fixture. The clamp mounts securely, much better than older flimsy models I have used, and the ceramic socket feels solid and safe. The only minor issue I noticed is the product description has several grammatical errors, which makes it seem less polished, though it does not affect performance. If you want an easy to use, energy smart setup with adjustable heat, ReptiKing is a strong choice. If you need that extra intense spotlight for larger or more heat preferring reptiles, you might still consider a Zoo Med bulb. With a few tweaks to their listing copy, ReptiKing could easily earn a fifth star.

Works Well with the Proper Terrarium Arrangement
The biggest selling point with this lamp fixture is the thermostat and ability to control heat output throughout the day. In terms of quality and ability to use decent heat sources, this works good and the wattage is sufficient. I always use slightly smaller bulb wattage than the lamp is stated to be designed for just for safety and peace of mind. The length of the controller to the lamp isn’t an issue as the thermocouple is what is important. In my opinion, you should use a bulb height size that allows you to place this lamp flush to terrarium top. Second, you should place thermocouple on either the basking platform or a mid spot of the terrarium if you are trying to monitor ambient temperature. Overall, this product works well so your pet and your electric bill works efficient and keeps the terrarium somewhat stable throughout the day. This product most likely is best for hotter months so the lamp doesn’t have to be full power all day long.

    works great at regulating temperatures
This reptile heap lam with dimming thermostat has been awesome! No more turning off if the temp gets too hot, it just dims the energy, which allows for better temperature control and power/energy usage. It seems to be good quality but ya never know how long a heat lamp will survive before it burns out. Only time will tell. It works well. It functions as intended. I love that the dimming thermostat is built into the whole product rather than getting a separate one and having to Frankenstein a bunch of stuff together. I would love if this came in a deep dome and an 8″ dome.

    good concept, but some quirks
This light fixture looks great on paper, but in practice, there are definitely some quirks.the idea is great that it has dimming capacity based upon the set temperature, but for my bearded dragons, which require a very high temperature, it basically functions as an on-off switch. I have yet to see it do a graduated dimming with my 75 watt heat lamp.perhaps I need the lamp a lot closer, or the probe a lot closer, but that seems counter to the design of a good setup. I shouldn’t have to have the probe sitting on the basking rock, and the lamp shouldn’t have to be 5″ away from the rock.I think with some tweaking, and a lot of measuring, you can adjust the probe location to account for the distance and set a lower temperature so that it actually dims, but i’m not sure if that’ll provide a consistent heat level, and may come at a cost of the life of the bulb. The mechanics of it seem to work ok, and providing heat for the terrarium, but for the price, i would probably just opt for a standard light that can be plugged into a smart switch that I can set timer to.

    Highly recommend
Works great! I needed something small for my crestie as he doesn’t need a whole lot of heat, just something to keep him warm when winter sets in. It’s pretty much plug and play. The thermostat is working well and only comes on if his enclosure drops below 71. I’d recommend this one, it’s perfect for small setups.

    Didn’t work
2 Major problems with this unit.#1 The light never fully turned on. It was like it was only sending a tiny bit of power to the bulb. We adjusted the thermostat multiple times and it seemed like it was going to work. Even clicked when the thermostat triggered. But the bulb would only light up a tiny tiny bit. This made the entire light unusable -despite any other issues it has.We tested our power outlet and the bulb with another light and it works perfectly. No issues on my end.#2 the controller for the light is only about 4 inches away from the light fixture itself and this makes it unusable in my situation specifically. We mount our lights inside the tank and it was impossible to see the controller once installed on the ceiling of the tank.If it was longer, we could run out out the cable hole and see it.I see this as an issue even if the light was on top of a tank. It’s just so close to the fixture you really have to have the perfect setup to be able to see it properly. Also, who knows if it will melt if it accidentally touches the fixture-and with it being so close… It’s highly likely.Poor design. And mine didn’t work. I wouldn’t ask for a replacement anyways.
