Necessary equipment for a heat pad
I highly recommend having a thermostat on your heaters. Thereâs so many cases of animals burned.This isnât going to dial your temp down to the degree but it does keep it within 5 degrees F. Realistically, this is totally fine. If you want 90 and itâs 85 to 95, you arenât going to be damaging your pet.Itâs easy to setup and the price is good at $20.

Unclear instructions
The heater works but I don’t feel the instructions on how to set it are very clear .after several attempts I’m still not sure how to regulate it .any next one i purchase I Will strive to get clearer instructions

I am using the REPTI ZOO Reptile Thermostat Wide Range Temperature Controller with my heat setup in my hermit crab crabitat.Hermit crabs need a higher temperature and high humidity tank so I have a heat mat attaches to the back outside of the tank, that plugs into the temperature controller.It is easy to set the temperatures on the controller for when your plugged in heat source needs to turn on and when it should turn off. You just turn on by pushing the power button, then the set button which will take you to the ON setting – click the up and down arrows to choose the temperature you want the heat source to turn on – click SET and it will go to the OFF setting – choose your temperature for when your tank reaches a certain temperature the heat source will turn off – then hold the SET button for 3 seconds and it will turn your settings on. There is a temperature probe that is placed inside your tank to gauge the temperature. The instructions say to place this near the heat source in your tank to get the most accurate reading. The probe is also waterproof which is great because I frequently spray the tank to keep the humidity up.This temperature controller has made my life a lot easier. Before using this I was constantly having to go to my tank to check the temperature and then either turn my heat mat up, down, or off. I was always having to do some kind of adjusting. This is pretty much a set it and forget it thing. It also has really helped with keeping the tank temperature regulated and no drops or spikes in the temperature for my little crabbies.I am pleased with how well this thing works and how much time and energy it is saving me constantly checking.If you have any pets that live in a tank and need the temperature regulated I highly recommend adding this to your heat source setup, it really does make life easier!

Great tool
I use this in conjunction with the ReptiZoo heating pad that also has a thermometer in it. This is a great combo to ensure that the temp is more accurate.

Easy to use
This thermostat is easy to use. It works very well in regulating the heat in my reptile’s enclosure. The temperature’s are accurate as well. It does a great job and is worth the price.

overheats
doesnât shut off at selected temp, risks overheating snake. i have my baby african house snake in a 3gal with a 25w CHE lamp aka i need my thermostat to work correctly to prevent overheating and potentially death. i can set this to shut off at 71 (giving it time to cool down since it may overshoot temps while cooling) and it has reached 81. just spend the extra $5-$10 on an inkbird. will be returning.

Excellent Budget Thermostat
For the price this thermostat canât be beat. Repti Zoo makes good products for caring for our reptile friends and this is no exception. Itâs a simple thermostat with easy to read LED display and buttons for operation and setup. You just set your desired heat temperature and it will turn your heating mat or other heat emitter on/off depending on the temperature the probe is reading. Itâs more than accurate enough to be safe for our pets and also has a built in alarm in case the temperature gets either too hot or falls too low.I recommend this thermostat, especially if youâre on a budget or new to caring for reptiles as it is easy to operate and well made so it should last a long time. It earns 5 stars for the value it offers at this price.
