Keeps environment conditions perfect
Product performs well. It’s in my bedroom so to be able to turn off the backlight is a nice feature for when I sleep. Seems to be accurate as well. It does exactly what it is supposed to. My only objection might be to the the fact that I cannot keep less than a 5 percent difference on the humidity, but that is to be expected for any machine like this to perform accurately. And it’s really not alot if you understand humidity. Still gets 5 stars. I also mis understood the timer option: it allows you up to four on/off cycles; whereas my need was for 24 hour continuous on/off sequence. (3 min on, 5 min off, all day long) but that is no fault of the product. It’s still wonderful and I was able to get pretty close to what I need. I use it for my martha tent for mushrooms, not animals, so it still performs well and makes my life easier. It’s a good product for the right price.

Killed Everything (all the plants, hopefully not the whole hobby) :'(
With his own money, my 13year old son purchased a THC16 temperature controller from Amazon on June 15 to use with a chest freezer to keep some sensitive exotic (carnivorous) plants at very specific conditions. The controller worked great for a month, doing everything he needed â until it didnât. My son was sent to camp for a week and my wife and I took a 3 day vacation. When we came back, we went to water the plants for him and found that the controller was registering high temp (120°). The plant lights were on, creating heat, but the controller was no longer cycling the freezer. I can only assume the plants were cooked in there at 120+ for 3 days. Needless to say, they are all completely fried. This is probably nearly $1k worth of plants that he has accumulated all by himself though buying and selling, and birthday and Christmas presents since he was 9 years old. He comes back from camp today and I am sick to my stomach knowing that I am going to have to tell him that all of his prized plants (that he normally checks several times per day, belongs to a local club for, has his own youtube channel for, and is currently even designing his own website for) have all been effectively cooked because of this faulty controller. I have since tested it and confirmed it is definitely no longer working. I would not recommend relying on this item for anything that you want to keep alive. Product is 0 stars. I have also written to the company in hopes that there may be any sort of guarantee or coverage for the items (plants) it killed. I have not heard back yet but I will also be rating the manufacturer based on their response. I will also update the resolution here.For now, I am at a loss of what to do next. This is going to completely devastate him and we have to break the news to him when we pick him up from camp today.Edit: I contacted the manufacturer (Repti-Zoo) and they said they don’t provide after sales support for items that aren’t bought directly from their website. So 0/10 ranking for them. I contacted Amazon and they offered a return. So although we lost $1k in plants, at least we got to return the $50 item that caused it. Kudos to AZ for doing that, at least.

It’s be nice if it didn’t say HH for the humidity ever. It makes it seem like the sensor is broken. Otherwise it works great. I like the switch to turn the backlight off so I can use it in my mushroom room.

So ive been using this thermostat for about a week now. I did have some concerns initially about the temperature probe, as its in with a very cantankerous nile monitor that loves to destroy everything. Luckily, as of this review, she has not noticed the probe. Double checked temperature accuracy with a temperature gun. Both read the same at the basking spot. The timer function is great, and I believe has 4 or 5 timers you can set up. I’m using 3 for a ventilation fan. Cord length is more than enough for use, and nice and thick to accommodate the rise in amperage with using what is effectively an outlet strip for your timer/heat/always on options. The instructions talked about easy preset functions for new users. I was able to easily customize the features to suit my needs. Works great for me, and especially for the price. I’m happy.

Poor quality
It started malfunctioning less than a year. It makes a clicking noise constantly then started making a crackling sizzling electrical noise. It’s a potential fire hazard.

Reliable piece of equipment
Bought this a while ago and itâs still working as it should have had no issues yet and hoping it will stay that way. Definitely a good buy for the price.
