I was honestly hesitantâ¦.
I was hesitant not because of the brand, price or reputationâ¦. But because i was going to use this in a high moisture content terrarium. I own several crested geckos and several hygrometer/thermometer combinations all around but never tried this one. I already own several reptizoo products that I love so i figured, âletâs give it a go!â Upon receiving it I quickly realized that this was a quality product that met the price point it was offered at. Opened it up, pulled the battery save tab out and it turned on. I installed the suction cup and placed into my terrarium. I love it, I wasnât sure if I would, but it didnât take long for me to realize how great these actually are! No more long messy cords hanging out of my terrarium anymore! Itâs sleek, small, light weight and durable. Itâs high visibility is what I actually like the most. The humidity proved to not be a factor and I canât say enough positive things! I will be ordering more!

Used for reptile habitat
We have a sand boa (20 gal glass enclosure with sand substrate and a wide 2 qt water pool) and hated the velcro tab thermometers we had been using for years, they were difficult to read and constantly looked dirty. This was just what I wanted. It’s small enough that it doesn’t bulge out too much from the glass surface. The screen is easy to read and produces and nice contrast “not faded”. It seems to be pretty accurate on both humidity and temperature -we keep it opposite side of the enclosure from the water bowl and just to the side of the heat lamp radius to give a good read of the regular metrics. I was surprised that it adhered well “to the glass after I cleaned the schmutz from the last adherent readers” since most suction tabs are kind of pissy about how well they stick, she “the snake -3.5ft'” likes to climb on it at times and it seems to endure her abuse without falling off so I love that. It’s a good value and I’m really happy with the choice. It comes with a battery preloaded and a spare, they size is easy to find for replacement but I appreciated that they threw in an extra.

Clever design, placement affects readability
This is a clever little thermometer/hygrometer, and from what I can tell it is really quite accurate.Setup is simple: open the battery case and flip the battery over so it will turn on. Use a toothpick to push the tiny hole in the back to switch from * C to F.Setup was a bit quirky for me. We set this up for a couple different critters (ball python, bearded dragon, hognose and canaries) to see what the range is. In a nutshell, press “set” for 3 seconds and the display will flash. Toggle through setting the high and low temp and the humid/dry humidity settings. Directions are to then press and hold the button for 3 seconds to leave setup and enter operation mode, or simply wait 20 seconds and it would happen automatically.The first time we tried setting it up was a bit confusing . . . our room temperature and humidity were both wrong according to the settings so the display kept blinking. JUST LIKE IT DID DURING SETUP. So we thought we were not able to get out of setup mode, which was incorrect. The display was blinking because the temp and humidity were out of range.The other thing that I have a love/hate with is the display itself. The numbers are large and easy to read, the design is unique and classy. The issue is that placement definitely affects the readability. In my beardie’s tanks there is shelf paper on the glass so they were easy to read as long as they weren’t on a dark background. The snakes were easier but again, better on a light and solid background over a dark or busy pattern.The best thing about this (other than how fast it works and how reliable and accurate it seems) is that the suction cup can be positioned on the back or on either side of the unit. That makes placement options endless.

This is awesome!
Iâm so excited about this thermometer/humidity tracker. I bought one for my jumping spider enclosure and it was small and compact. Perfect for keeping an eye on her humidity and temp. She can also use it to jump around on. It even came with a second battery!Iâm so happy with it Iâm buying two more for my two tarantulas enclosures. The old ones are nice but this one is a definite upgrade to the analogue ones I currently use. Definitely recommend.

Good design for the price range
If the device acts oddly once you remove the tab for the battery, pull the battery holder out and re-seat it. Other than that, it does exactly as advertised, and the ability to choose which of the three mounting locations you want for the suction cup is useful. Note that the suction cup screw is tight but not super tight, so it is entirely possible to accidentally knock the meter loose from the suction cup when jostled, but it seems strong enough to hold the unit tight unless you hit it.

I love that she loves it
I love that it’s a suction cup and not that double sided tape stuff. One day I came home to it stuck to the top of her head and we got through it together with warm water and a brave snake heart. But since then much prefer the suction on the off chance she knocks it down. Also she has been using it as a ledge and it seems to hold her up. Readings seem to be accurate, also much prefer the digital. Also very happy it came with a battery and a spare.
