One of the best pet-branded units
This is one of the best pet-branded units I’ve tried, and with 30 years of experience in the herp hobby, I’ve tried the bulk of them. I ordered this for traveling with one of my bearded dragons, and it’s surprisingly well designed.I never expect much from pet store thermometers/hygrometers. I prefer to use more expensive (and longer lasting) monitors with individual sensors that I can place strategically in the enclosures for precise readings, but I needed a portable unit.This was easy to put together, and the magnets adhere well through standard glass. The readings are fairly accurate (within a few degrees/percentage points) and immediate.The only thing I don’t like about this is the digital readout. Unless it’s at the precisely right angle, it’s difficult to read the numbers from even a short distance. It’s not a dealbreaker for me as I’m just using it in temporary travel accommodations, but as a permanent gauge it could be an issue.

Easy to Install, Strong Magnets
I confess, I honestly thought this wouldn’t work. So many times I’ve seen thermostats, meters, and decorations that promise to hang easily in your reptile’s tank and yet, as soon as your pet touches it, it falls. This can be especially dangerous with items held up by sticky things like glue or tape. To my surprise, this thermometer is not like the rest, and I was very pleased.I got this for my hognose’s tank, he’s a nosy little guy and must investigate everything. This means that any thermostat that sits on the surface or is held up by suctions cups always gets knocked over by hi. Indeed, as you can see in the pictures, in less than a minute he was already investigating it and had to climb up and wrap around it. And it stayed up!This thermostate has a very strong magnet that was able to connect with it’s partner securely even with plastic in-between them. The magnet easily kept the thermostat up while my hognose snake climbed all over it and wrapped around it. Never even wobbled. The thermostat is also pretty accurate and provides the humidity inside the tank as well. Assembly was easy, everything you needed was right there. Hardest part was separating the two sides of the magnet – but considering that showed how strong it is, I have no complaints. Thermostat comes with not one but two batteries as well. Price was more than fair too. Highly recommend this!

inaccurate, hard to read
I was excited to receive a small thermometer/hygrometer to use in my tree frog enclosure. They’re thumbnail frogs so anything larger dwarfs the tank.The magnet is strong and I didn’t have any trouble with keeping it in place, even when a frog decided too use it as a perch.The downside is that the temperature is reading off and I can’t figure out how to set it. I don’t have a way to verify the humidity outside of an old gauge, so I wouldn’t want to swear that was right. The other issue is that I have a hard time reading it in the tank.

Perfect for glancing in
This works great! I use it more to tell my humidity than heat but it’s nice to just glance in the cage and see what the ambient heat is. My corn snake also really likes to rest his head on it since it’s right beside his favorite basking spot lol

Doesn’t read accurately.
This monitoring device doesn’t work and what I mean by that it’s not accurate at all. Do not get it.Readability is way off on both temp and humidity.

Works well unless you have a humid cage.
I used this in a terrarium that is pretty humid, with resulting condensation which made the display hard to see. I could move it to an area of the glass where there isn’t condensation, but then it would interfere with the view. I’m also concerned long-term about the effect of the humidity on the unit. I’ll probably move it to a better ventilate cage, I mean I can see that the cage has sufficient humidity because of the condensation; All I really need here is a thermostat and those can be sealed against moisture.
