Not really for guinea pigs
**Update*** I’ve had this bottle for a while now and I REALLY wanted to like it. I keep putting it back in to try it for my guinea pigs but it just does NOT work for them. They seem to LOVE the bottle and want to use it, but within an hour the bottle is completely empty and the cage is soaked. I have them in my office with me and watch them drink out of it and it does not appear they are causing it to leak so I’m not sure what the problem is.The bottle itself is great and does not leak on its own! However, if are planning to use this for guinea pigs be warned, THEY cause it to leak. When you barely touch the stem, water pours out. They brush against it walking by and water pours out. They hold it open too long while drinking and water pours out. Right now Iâve switch to a cheap $2 bottle with the ball and itâs working out better for us. Iâd love to keep using this one if I can find a solution to my piggies making it leak everywhere.

with this rating there is a Caveat Please read…
First there is no leak proof water made! period… When animals lick it leaks. I purchased this for my herd of guinea pigs. 5 total. At first it did drip just as you are told. but that stopped. Did it empty out and soak everything. Yes it did but not with the very persistent help of one of my sows. and probably the rest of them. When she drinks half in mouth most in cage. I watched her time an time again do this till in one evening the entire bottle is empty. I think for rabbits and chickens alike it is perfect for this group it is a fail. This was even after the seller was kind enough to replace not one but two spigots. I did send him pictures of how it was set and even the girls using it. But to no avail nothing was going to keep it from leaking. So If your guinea pigs are ardent drinkers this may not be the one for you. But I give the seller 5 plus stars in trying to help me out.. Even the conventional ones leak on me so I now use small bottles in a tub and have to fill them up several times a day to keep the mess to a minimum. I do not think there is one at least this one piggy cant make leak … But yours might not be like her.. so worth the try well made and easy to fill!!

LEAKS LIKE CRAZY!
I Read through tons of glowing reviews of this water bottle when I was looking for a large water bottle to put in our Guinea pig’s cage in order to hold them over between visits by our pet sitter. Just in case it leaked a little bit, I wanted to have a buffer of more water than what they really needed. Fortunately, I also ordered another large one (Kaytee 32 oz. Extra large). The 2 water bottles arrived right before our trip, so I did not get a chance to test out both of them beforehand. I left this one in the cage with instructions for our pet sitter to keep an eye on the area underneath the water bottle and to switch to the Kaytee one if this one leaked. When we came home a, the 1st thing I noticed was that this water bottle was sitting by the kitchen sink, and the Katy brand bottle was in the cage. I checked with our sitter to see if it leaked, and he told me that Their cage was soaked from this one. I am so thankful I ordered the other one, but unfortunately, I missed the return window on this One, so now I am left with a leaky water bottle. It will be going in the trash because it’s not even worth giving away. Also, the metal piece that holds it on to the cage is fairly secure, but that also means that it is extremely difficult to get the water bottle in-and-out. Since it leaked so much , I can’t say how easy it is for cleaning, but this was trickier

LEAKS like crazy// UPDATE: new bottle is awesome!
Well this product clearly drips, and I think even more than my $2 water bottle from the pet store. I had this filled up all the way and you can see where the water line is now. Thatâs roughly 12 hours worth of dripping over night. The only reason Iâm giving this two stars is because the concept is great and I like how you can fill it while still attached to the cage. Take away that and this is a zero star product if you want something that doesnât drip.**UPDATE**Their customer service had reached out to me and got me a new bottle. I have no idea what was different with this one but it was true to the description. No leaks at all. I love it. Now I would have been even more ecstatic if the first bottle I purchased would have been the same. So maybe youâll get an amazing one or one that pours water… is it worth the risk? I say yes, because the ease of this and getting one that really doesnât even leak is amazing.Before I soaked my cage again I left this one at the sink overnight with a line. You can see how essentially nothing was dripped out. They do have great customer service and weâre on top of it.

No Leaks!!!
Using this for my ratties, I’ve only ever seen the ball bottles and those always, ALWAYS end up leaking no matter what is advertised. This one is a pin style design and it hasn’t leaked a drop since purchase. Admittedly, the purchase was recent, but any ball bottles I’ve gotten have leaked by now so this is incredible. Rats seem to have gotten the hang of it quickly. The lid comes off entirely for ease of cleaning, which is excellent. Can also fill from the top without removing the lid, very convenient. Good size for my two boys, will likely last a while with them if I fill it up. I’ll be washing at least once a week for sanitary reasons, but I’m sure this would last two rats a weekend away at least. Might not last forever, but I think this’ll hold up long enough to be worth the price if installed and used correctly for the animal you have (i.e. my rats will not be allowed near the main body of the bottle because I’m positive they’d chew a hole in minutes). Very satisfied with my purchase, might be the only style of bottle I get from here on!
