REINSMAN Square Tacky Too Swayback Contour Pad is designed to assist in fitting a saddle to a horse who experiences bridging across their back because of a lower than typical curve. Did you know a swaybacked horse can be young and underdeveloped, short coupled, or an older horse? When a horse has a dropped back, he needs pad support to fill in the gaps between his back and the saddle tree to help distribute the rider’s weight to eliminate pressure points. To eliminate bridging we have a 1 1/2″” thick foam core in the center that tapers to each end to level the saddle from front to rear and fill in any voids. The Tacky Too bottom offers a non-slip material that is ventilated, deceptively tough, and durable, which helps reduce sore backs and saddle roll. Comfortable fit for swayback and doesn’t slip too much.
I was worried that the tapered padding was too thick, but it compresses to fit pretty quickly. We took our 35-year-old boy for a trail ride with this pad last week and he did great! The TackyToo bottom kept everything reasonably in place, even when we forgot the breast collar. We had to tighten the cinch after riding a bit because the pad warmed up and compressed, but that was to be expected. After the 2 hour ride through rolling hills with some steep areas we explored, his sweat pattern looked nice and even across his back, which is quite an achievement with his swayback!

Worked perfectly for my swaybacked mare
I ride western side saddle on a swaybacked horse. It was a challenge finding a pad that worked with the saddle and my horse. This saddle pad was absolutely perfect! The saddle didn’t slip a bit (sometimes an issue with a side saddle) and it fit on my horse perfectly. It made for a pleasant ride for both of us and it’s very pretty too!

Immediate Difference
I was weary that this pad would over promise and under deliver at a high price. We were pleasantly surprised that it really does make a difference. Our child’s sweet 25 year old horse has a ton of life left in her, but we noticed that she kept rounding out her back when being ridden by our lighter than a feather child. We made sure hands were quiet and soft. Then I began researching and found that horses will do this to take the pressure off their backs. When we saddled her up with this pad on we immediately noticed a difference in our horse. I bought another one for my horse. Highly recommend.

Great pad for hollow backed or sway backed horses
This pad was a game changer for my hollow backed horse. Every saddle we tried just pinched his shoulders and hurt him. This pad corrected the saddle fit and freed up his shoulders. Heâs moving beautifully now.

Wrong color.
Havenât used yet, but was surprised the color is not what was shown. I think the pad will still work well, but my initial reaction is disappointment

Great Pad, and Iâm picky !!!
Really like this pad….. was a little stiff at first, but seems to break in as we use it. My Quarter Horse has a slight sway in his short back, so the pad fills in that gap on his sweet back…. highly recommend for mutton whithered, slight sway, short or medium backed horses!!!!

Keeps saddle level and in place
Kept saddle level on my slightly swayback, high withered gelding. He doesn’t mind the tacky tack of the pad, usually saddle slides a bit down his withers during ride. But I think the tacky tack backing helped keep it in place so I didn’t have to rely on breast collar. Highly recommend. Also the green color is very pretty.
