Hard to Read Results
Unlike other Red Sea test kits, this test kit has a minor color change. It can be challenging to read. It turns from a pale blue to a pale green and then to a pale yellow if you have added too much titrate. I always have to have my lights turned up bright and test against a white surface, otherwise I miss the change.Other Red Sea test kits are much easier to read, i.e., calcium and magnesium, and are super easy to use.

Simplly the best AK tester available unless you go with a optical unit. Love this!

Works well new, but test becomes nearly impossible to read after a few months and long before expiration date
I have the full Red Sea pro test kit. The Mg and Ca tests are pretty easy to read and have remained consistent in the titration color change. The Alk test leaves something to be desired though. When I first got it the color change was very clear and easy to read, however after 4-5 months the color it changed to became increasingly more yellow (vs the original more rust looking color) and did not have a clear change point. The Alk reagent didn’t expire for nearly a year either. I contacted Red Sea and they sent me a replacement Alk reagent vial (Received November of 2015). Once again it was super easy to read and the color matched the more rust looking color on the card. Since then this test has done the exact same thing though and is now basically impossible to read. Expiration date on this vial is 12/2017 and I have nearly half the vial left. I’ve kept the vial tightly closed in the dark. I’m moving to the Hanna checker for Alk as I’m not going to waste any more money or risk my aquarium on this test you apparently need to replace every 4 months or so.

This one is working only on fresh water, not suitable for salt water,
