Helps me tweak new water during water changes, just enough
My tap water is about 8-8.2. My fish (dalmation mollies, dwarf gourami, opaline gourami, dwarf suckerfish catfish, dealt fine with a pH of 8 but whenever I do water changes/gravel vacuums, I treat the incoming water. My tank is a 50 gallon seaclear acrylic. I use a python gravel vaccuum. If I’m lucky I can get about half the gravel vaccuumed before about 50% of the water is gone. Ideally, I’d prefer to do 10% water changes every 2-3 weeks but the only time this happens is really just replacing almost 10% of water lost due to evaporation. I have never added this product directly to the tank. I fill up four 5 gallon buckets with tap water, split up 50 gallons’ worth of proper PH powder (a single scoop) between the four buckets, and then split up 50 gallons’ worth of Seachem Prime amongst the 4 buckets. The buckets sit out for at least 24-48 hours. After 50% water changes my pH has been about 7.6. It settles back around 7.8 long term which is fine for me. I DO NOT recommend products like pH Up or pH down, they are dangerous and do not provide anything but temporary jolts and actually tend to incite major pH osscillations. This product seems to make an actual difference at least between water changes.

Ph Balance
I have trouble maintaining the correct ph value in my aquarium and ordered this product which had been recommended. It is ok but has not lower the ph as I had hoped. I think it is expensive for its effectiveness.

Clouded the water and did NOT clear
I went from a tank that was crystal clear, a bit high on the PH side (8.2 or so) to a tank that was proper PH but milky to the point where it was disgusting. Did a 60% water change and it’s still bad. My once peaceful tetras are now restless and chasing each other non stop. Filter is running properly with new media.Lesson learned, adding products should be the last thing attempted when fixing water. The picture is from day 3, after the 60% water change.
