UPDATED: Good for small betta or other small fish
I got this plant to put in the hospital tank of the betta I am rehabbing. He lived in a small cup of water before he came to me and was so bored that he ate his own tail. He is such a busy guy that he needs lots of enrichment to keep him happy. He likes exploring decor in his tank so I thought this might be a good option for him. Unfortunately itâs a bit large for his 2.5 gallon tank. It just takes up too much swimming space. The leaves are so dense that he canât really swim through them, so he has to go around it. The plastic is soft enough that I donât think it would damage his healing fins, but it doesnât serve the purpose I needed it to. I removed it from the tank several hours after the video I shared here. I think this plant would better for smaller fish that can swim in between the leafs. It would be great for fry! But I donât think this is the best option for betta. It feels well made and sturdy. I had no issues with it falling over or floating away in the bare bottom tank. The green color is a little bright so itâs not the most realistic looking but itâs pleasant enough to look at. I will keep this for a future fry grow up tank.UPDATE:Since writing my initial review, I have adopted another betta in need of TLC. This one is a female who is significantly smaller than my first rehab betta. She has buoyancy issues so swimming is very tiring for her. I used this plant in her hospital tank and she loves it. She is small enough to hide between the leafs and has taken to perching in the âtreetop.â I added a couple photos. So I amend my initial assessment of this plant. It would be good for some betta, particularly small ones.
