Great idea that works, with a bit of patience
Been waiting years for a refrigerated cat feeder for wet food and here it is. Finding someone to feed our kitties while we’re gone on vacation has always been a problem. We’ve used dry feeders which is fine for my one cat who eats anything but we have another cat that will not eat dry food. The Petlibro is a well designed and well thought out machine. The app is another story. The programming takes some patience. The user manual isn’t too informative but follow the QR link to the videos which are more helpful but still leave you wondering what’s going on under the hood. I did not experience some of the issues reported in other reviews, like the spinning tray, or door not opening but here is what I did experience:A couple of issues with the meal schedule which would have gone undiscovered had I not been remotely monitoring kitties meal time with a security camera. At one meal time the cats were presented with an empty tray. They looked expectantly at the tray and walked away. I had to delete the meal schedule and start over beginning with the tray I knew had to be next in the queue. Thankfully I was able to solve that problem using the app and it did not reoccur. Another time the door closed after a minute. I knew this thanks to the log of events they thoughtfully included in the app design. I was able to open the door and set up a longer feed time. Despite the manual’s claim the default feed time is 30 minutes, according to the setup in the app, it is one minute. So don’t forget to set the feed duration. Another issue is moisture condensation in the refrigerated area below the tray. There was water under the tray after a few days. Not a lot and removed easily enough. We were gone for two weeks and the moisture condensation on the heat sink inside the feeder needed to be drained and air dried. This may not be problem in dryer climates.Overall our experience was good and our cats were fed with their favorite pate served fresh. I bought two feeders for three days of twice daily feeding. We had someone come by every third day to reload. By design it cannot be programmed with a feed beyond 72 hours since freshness cannot be guaranteed more than 3 days. I gave a 5 star rating despite the learning curve and bugs. It was worth it in the end. The feeder did it’s job and kept the wet food fresh and delivered to our furry family members. We could relax and enjoy our trip knowing our cats were well fed.Ideas for improvement: A rotate tray button in the app and on the machine. More informative user manual.Side note; there is an amusing graphic I’ve seen on t-shirts showing Pavlov ringing his bell to a disinterested cat. I can tell you our cats learned that little electronic bell sound on the feeder meant food and came running.

App terrible, feeder useful
The app is terrible and needs a lot of work. First and most importantly, there is currently no way to open a compartment more than once in a day, so if your pet eats more often than once every 24 hours, you have to use two or three compartments to accomplish twice or thrice daily feeds, making only 24 hours of feeding possible. The only way currently to achieve 72 hours as advertised is opening each compartment once in a day, for a maximum of 4 hours per day. Second, the only way to advance the tray on the via the app is by canceling the schedule, starting a manual feed, and tapping a small icon. Since I’ve had it get confused with a schedule change and I had to manually push the motor around to get it on the right feeding tray. Once it opened the lid but the tray was only half-aligned with the slot. Adding the ability to open each tray multiple times in a day and advancing the tray via the app would go a long way to realizing the full potential of this feeder. I realize some animals will eat everything as soon as the tray opens, but not all pets are like that and having the option to split feeds from one tray in a day is crucial. Third, the manual open option forces you to select a scheduled time, which is hopelessly confusing and ruins the schedule for the day. The manual function should be separate from the schedule and open one time for a chosen duration, e.g. “open now for 30 minutes.” Fourth, there also needs be a way in the app to play the bell sound that signals opening of the tray lid. That would help in training the pet to approach the feeder upon hearing the bell.UPDATE: I’m taking another star off for the app. If the schedule gets off (which it does frequently) you are hosed. You have to manually push the tray around against the motor, which clearly is not good for it. I would suggest avoiding this until they make the app useful.UPDATE 2: Docked another star down to 1. This feeder is as bad as the app. It manages to stick to a twice daily feeding schedule for a few days, then something happens and it can’t figure out which bowl to present. I’ve talked to customer support who have been responsive, but their advice is similarly useless, such as “put the am feed in bowl 2 or 3 and the pm feed in bowl 1”, which shows a complete lack of understanding that the bowl would be turning in opposite directions depending on whether it was 2 to 1 or 3 to 1. Maybe I got a bad device, but my poor cat has no idea when to eat and we can’t leave him alone because the feeder is completely untrustworthy. Spend your money elsewhere.

At first it was amazing, but after I disconnected the Wi-Fi, I couldn’t connect again so I had to return it

Was really reluctant to get one of these, because my cat is a bit of a scaredy cat and doesn’t like change…and gets a bit spooked when you do change things up. 2 reasons for getting this a) portion control and b) so that I can go away for a couple of days. This unit accomplished both. Instructions for set up could have been a little clearer in my opinion. It’s a neat looking little unit…and works like a charm. I am wondering if you can purchase new dishes for the feeder so that you can clean and rotate them – just nice to have an extra. The blue light flashes turns to a flashing red light when the feeder is low on food. There are batteries for backup in case there is a power outage. I am delighted that my fur ball is getting his daily quota and he’s ok when I go away. Very happy and recommend!
