Been great for our old girl
We lost one of our chinchillas unexpectedly due to a genetic condition where her back teeth were growing into her skull instead of put. We took her took the vet because she had had a seizure not knowing that it would end with us having to say good bye to her. This has been great for her sister that is left she moves it around her cage and uses it as a snuggle buddy. I think it has helped her feel a little less alone. She has not chewed on it or anything so that hasn’t been an issue.

More a Toy Than a Cuddler
Although this little guy is very cuddly (in my opinion), my chinchilla does not see this as something to cuddle. Instead, he likes to jump on it and play with it, like itâs a chinchilla friend, rather that something to cuddle with. Heâs far more likely to jump on it and smack it around, but he does seem to enjoy it. The chinchilla cuddler is about the same size as my chinchilla, made of soft material, and the seams are very well sewn so Iâm not worried about the thread coming loose and creating a safety hazard.The only reason I took one star away is that based on the description, the cuddler would be just that- a cuddler. From what I now understand, chinchillas who do not share their habitat with another chinchilla arenât as likely to enjoy something like this to cuddle with, but are more likely to play with it. I wish I had known that prior to buying it so that I would have better known what to expect. This would be easily remedied by the seller adding the word âtoyâ to the description so future buyers have a better sense of all the capabilities of this product.

The Perfect Cuddle Buddy
This adorable little buddy is perfect for my Suavé, he snuggles up with it every time he goes to sleep.

This little cuddle plushie is super cute! While I think it is adorable unfortunately it has some issues.I have owned a pair of chinchilla brothers for about 15 years and recently one has been exuding extreme and aggressive dominance over his brother so I have had to separate them. They have always cuddled when sleeping so now not having each other I could tell they were needing to have something to cuddle. Unfortunately, though my chins have yet to cuddle with it despite having tried it with both of them for quit a bit of time.I think the issue is the size, shape, and fullness. This cuddle toy is a bit larger than chins are so it seems they canât get their bodies around the toy. The shape is a bit awkward also. It has a very wide front/head so it doesnât replicate the shape of another chin. Then there is also the issue of the firmness or lack there of as it runs on the soft side. Itâs not too soft to the point of collapsing but it is much softer and not quite supportive as another chin would be.Another issue. which is my biggest concern, is the stitching of the eyes. Chins love to chew and almost immediately they noticed the threading of the eyes. In no time they were chewing on the threading and had it unraveled. Even with my supervision it was unravelled super quick so I couldnât imagine the danger if a chinchilla is left unsupervised. I think it was very misleading when it was stated that there is no exposed stitching as stitching that can be seen and felt is very much exposed to a chinchilla and they will find it. It would have been best to forgo the eyes altogether rather than have the stitching or to have implement the eyes as a printed design directly into the fabric.I will say this cuddle toy is very easy to clean with being able to simply toss it into the washing machine. The material washed up well giving a clean like new appearance and it smelled really good too. I did not find any of the âchinchilla fragranceâ remaining. I am not able to attest to how the eye stitching holds up with washing since my chins and I had already removed the stitching, but the rest of the stitching on the cuddle toy held up magnificently as there was no one loose stitch after washing.The price point for me was a bit on the luxury side. I would have preferred it to be more affordable given the overall quality, size, and material. I personally am on other fence about recommending this. Some chinchillas may like this cuddle toy but I would only recommend it if you removed the eye stitching prior to use. That still leaves the issue of the price point which in that department I think the reasonable affordability is just not there.
