What to expect!
First let me start off by saying that these are excellent clippers! I used it on my dog to cut her fur down and the side vents prevented the clippers from getting clogged. The only time I noticed heat was when I put my hand over the side vents. I was able to clip her for the entire session without them overheating!! They didnât clog, they didnât overheat, they didnât stall!!!!! Best of all they did not make a lot of noise. For those of you that have skittish pets, these are the clippers for you.There are a few things that I recommend when purchasing these clippers. Make sure to get the metal attachment set. This gives you a clean long lasting option. This is great for pet grooming. Also invest in alternate blades, but do your research!! You may only need one or two for your pet.With that said I wanted to address another post I saw below that was really in-depth. If you are buying this to groom professionally you need to do your research period. There are a lot of options available with this brand and you need to research in depth. Make sure to clean out the hair and oil clippers. Never use water on your clippers! They will rust and ruin. I use a small air blower to clean off all hair and then clean and oil out the blade. You cant imaging the amount of hair you will find under the blade.Now that being said I did have a complaint. This isnât an issue for me because I hate stickers and remove them anyway. But the one I ordered did not have the oster metal sticker plate attached to the top by the blade. It was stuck to the manual so even if I wanted to use later I could not as paper was stuck on the sticker end.I disagree with the comment below – “It cuts too short”. Itâs meant to. Research your blade size and needs based on dog. Cut against the grain! And the guides work fine on any size blade. You just need to take your time. Treat your pups hair like yours. I have spent hundreds on groomers only for my dog to smell like dog still and his hair to be uneven and wavy.Best advise I can give is âBe preparedâ! And be patient!!!!!! I cannot stress this enough. Use the resources available to you and for the love of your pet, donât be dumb about it!!!!!! All these bad reviews make me laugh and cry at the same time. I know that there are people out there that are dumb, but never realized the abundance of this. Be smart, research, and have fun!!!!

$150 pays for itself in time and repeat purchases of lower quality clippers
TL;DR: spend the $150 and maybe get a longer blade for cold weatherI finally, after nine years, bought these to groom our 80# Goldendoodle and completed the project in about 30 minutes.It was shocking how easy these made the process; I’d been using the “pet” Wahl clippers (you know the ones — the same clippers they make for people but with a different color box and a pet sticker on them) and taking almost two hours to clip and re-clip and re-clip the same area trying to get hair to actually get cut.I’m on my third set and as my frustration was mounting to new heights during the dog’s last trim (in an hour, I only completed most of his legs before the clippers were too hot to hold and my rage had forced me to stop).The only way the old clippers would cut was if I pulled the fur taught, and then trimmed that handful. I was the human Flowbie (yes the fur was clean — bath the previous day).I’d seen previous comments across all types of clippers speaking to them not working or getting too hot and all sorts of issues; my biggest concern was the super-wavy hair that the other clippers just couldn’t seem to touch. The hair would glide over the blades and even stop the blades of the old clippers. I’ve wasted more money on lesser things in the past so figured worst-case scenario I could donate these to our SPCA if they totally sucked — I bought the 4f size blade in addition to the #10 that comes with this (it’s cold out; don’t need a frozen dog) and it was like shearing a sheep. One pass and done. Piles of Goldendoodle hair on the floor, no rage, no wasted time.Make sure that the fur is clean, make sure you add a drop or two of oil to the blades before you used them, and make sure to clean the blades when you’re done. I’ve never used the hot-swapable blades before so was worried about them getting hot, per other comments. No issues; never got past warm (kept checking) after 30 minutes. The clippers aren’t heavy or difficult to hold; if you can hold a bottle of beer you will probably be able to manage these w/o an issue.The blades are not magic. If you have matted fur or giant clumps, those should be cut out first or use a smaller blade to shave them out.With the ease that these made grooming our dog, I expect to be able to more easily stay on top of keeping his fur at a manageable length which will also probably make this easier as a maintenance project rather than an actual shearing, which is what had typically happened due to it being such a god-awful chore.

Works great, just read before you buy
These clippers work great. I have a little curly maltipoo whose hair is absolutely untamable. After giving him a bath, letting the hair dry, then brushing it, these clippers cut through it like butter.There are a lot of reviews on here saying the clippers wonât cut their dogâs hair. There is a reason for that. You havenât read the instructions. The product vividly illustrates the purpose of each blade that is available for these clippers. You can clearly see they come with a 40, and that blade is meant solely for ears.Blades for the body are a 3 or 4. You have to buy those separately. To know this you would have had to looked at all the product pictures before purchasing.So itâs not Osterâs fault your clippers didnât work. Itâs the effort of the user to do their do dilligence and research.Five stars. Great clippers. They do get hot, but only when youâre using the wrong blade or your hand covers the vent.

This is the best trimmer I have used. I have an Siberian Husky and a Lab as well ad Persian cats. This trimmer can take off any layer of fur right down to the skin if needed. But you have to let it cool down as it does get hot.
