Great little filter for small tanks
Iâve been using this small internal filter for a few weeks in my 5 gallons tank and it does a good job. Itâs compact and easy to set up, and doesnât take up too much space inside my aquarium.The flow is gentle enough for my fishes but still keeps the water moving and super clear. It runs pretty quietly too, which is a big plus, but it is not completely silent either.The only thing to note is that youâll need to clean the sponge fairly often since itâs small, but thatâs expected with a filter this size. Overall, itâs a reliable little filter for small tanks. Great value for money.

Good for a small aquarium
Great little water filter. I purchased this for a small 5 gallon setup for crabs. I needed something that would fit into the smaller space, I could fully submerge with only half the tank full, and something that didn’t have overpowering suction. This little filter fit the bill. You can install it horizontally or vertically which makes it very versatile. The filter inside is reusable and you can change the position of the water way out. This work great for crabs.

Filter too strong and kinda loud but works well.
It works very well but the filter is too strong for the size tank it says itâs for. I wish I bought the smaller version then. My 10 gallon has lots of current. Itâs pretty loud. My water is very clear though. No smell. Easy to assemble.

Would order again aquarium filter
Just placed this filter into my 5.5 gallon tank. It works really well. I have the rain head part on it but itâs still a little strong for my betta fish. So I put some pvc pipes pieces from hardware store on the rain head to slow the flow. Itâs not noisy to me it was like a soft fountain sound but now with the pvc pipe itâs really quiet. Looks easy to clean. And yes the suction cups really work and sturdy. But I really like this filter and will order again.

Filters Fine
The filter itself works fine. The oxygenation feature does not supply a steady stream of bubbles but rather spits and sputters and makes a fair amount of noise.

Quiet awesome pump
This pump is awesome in my 5 gallon Fluval reef tank. It gave just enough extra flow badly needed and filtration as a bonus. It is absolutely silent and running flawlessly for several months. Easy to clean and cheap filtration replacements. Worth every penny.

Mighty little pump.
I bought this for my 2 and 1/2 gal betta tank, it has 2 options a waterfall tube or a direct under water nozzle. I wanted to use the waterfall option but the water flow control doesn’t fit on this option. It flows at full power only and it way to strong for my betta, it knocks him all around it when he swims under it. I had to change to the under water nozzle so I could use the flow control. Not what I was hoping for but all in all it is a good little filter and takes up very little space in the tank. It makes very little noise when you turn down the water flow and it is very easy to remove and clean.

I bought this filter in June 2025, and this filter works fantastic so far for my 5 gallon betta tank (I got the mini filter 3.5w)! The tank stays very clean and oxygenized without stressing my betta out, since the waterfall-like option gives a gentle, not overly disruptive water flow that I can adjust the position as needed.My old filter that came with the tank I found was too stressful and my late betta had a hard time swimming through, but my current betta seems to swim around this one with ease. I do have the water flow streaming onto a rock which helps too (see pic).It’s very easy to set up as you just put it together and plug it in, no additional pumps required.Overall, this filter is way cheaper than my local pet stores and works much better without being overpowering for my betta. If it were to break, I would definitely buy this again.

I bought every adaptor I could find and still cannot plug it in properly. Very annoyed that it even needs an adapter in the first place. Basically unusable.

It’s a great filter, as expected from Nicrew.Pros:Well built filterworks greatCons:1. it’s noisy2. IMO, it may be a little too much for smaller fish tanks like 5-6 gallons3. If you have fish like Betta, it’s not for you. Or, you can tweak it like some other reviewers mentionedI love Nicrew products. I’ll return this one and order something more suitable.
