Went out after a couple of months
Ok the thermostat works and still working. The heater went out after a few months. Now Iâm not knocking the product because I read after it went out to turn it off when adding water, I didnât, so could be my fault. But it did work very well and I like the idea you can set it.

Fish killer.
Zero stars if I could. One overheated and killed my whole tank of 30+ fish after 1 month and the second one doesn’t work at all anymore after two months. Dangerous and terrible. Do not waste your money on this junk.

Good construction and ease of use
I truly like the construction and ease of using this heater. I recently lost my 21 year old 12 inch Oscar.

Best bang for the buck, seriously.
At first I was a little apprehensive because of such a low price, but when I got it I was blown away. Not only is it a true 200 watt aquarium heater, but it is also glass with a good porous protective plastic case encasing it. The digital thermometer it comes with is identical to the one they sell at PetCo. So if I was to buy this same setup in the store, I would be paying upwards of 60 bucks. This way I save almost 50 bucks and get better quality than what I can at my local store and I don’t even have to leave my house.

Affordable but the heater goes a few degrees over the set temperature indicator
The external digital thermometer was a good feature. The temperature indicator set at 78 degrees did not turn off until it hit 82 degrees. It does not blend in but it also is not an eyesore.

Suddenly stopped
Mixed review here. Worked great when first got it. Then out of nowhere it stopped working. The light wouldnât stay ON and then it just stopped working all the together. Only had it for 3 months, I wouldnât think that thatâs its max life.

The plastic housing is very difficult to remove
TL;DR – Awesome heater, not so great temperature control (could just be the one unit), and very difficult to clean because of the impossible-to-unfasten housing.This is a really good heater. I got the 200W and that was a mistake on my part (too much for my tank).I give it a 5 star for doing what it says and the value for money. However, the temperature control dial was not reliable. So, that probably brings this down to a 4 star.My complaint is with the plastic housing. Now, heating rods tend to get algae gunk on it from time to time (if it is a me problem, please help me with advice). So, naturally cleaning the heating rod means, I had to the open the plastic housing so I could scrub out the stubborn sludge.I am not exaggerating when I say that the plastic housing is difficult to remove. The plastic housing would probably give a Nokia 3310 a run for its money and I know this is the internet, so I do not say that lightly.Well, hurt feelings, and bruised fingers aside, the heater served me for about 3 months. One fine day, when wrestling with the housing so I could take the heating rod out and clean it. I yanked too hard, the shell unfastened with an impulse and the rod hit something and shattered into pieces.Now, I do not blame the heater for it, but I docked 1 star for the the stressful night of having to leave my otherwise tropical tank without heating. So, that is how this product received its 3 stars.

My beautiful Frontosa (10 inches) died because the thermostat heater did not worked. I set up the heater at 25 Celsius and I found my fish dead because the temperature was 33 Celsius. The thermostat is not reliable.The quality of the product is awful.

Ive set it to 78 and the temperature as riding way Too Much even when i lowered it a 75… Its Up at 82.8 right now :/ and the plastique protection was a Little bit Broken at arrival
