Why did you pick this product vs others?:I have a mini split right above my bed and was very concerned about foam, yuck, and water getting everywhere. I did put extra plastic over my bed and up against the wall, but between this and the cover everything worked perfectly!!! Iâm so thrilled and grateful. A must for DIY mini-split cleaning!
I’ve had my Mitsubishi Mr. Slims for about 18 years now. The only thing I DON’T like about them is the periodic cleaning that must be done on them. While cleaning the coils and fins is not hard at all-you COULD get away with hitting them with a foaming cleaner and then just run the unit to rinse the coils with the condensation the unit makes as a matter of function. The blower wheel, on the other hand, is a bear to clean. And in my experience, it gets WAY filthier than the coils do for some reason. Early on, the only way to really clean the fan was to loosen the coils and pry them away from the unit to make clearance to get the fan out. It always made me nervous that I was going to bend or break something in the process.Whoever invented these cleaning bibs/bags is a genius. You do still need to take the cover off the indoor unit, as well as the directional fins under the blower. (Your mini-split may be different than mine.) I also remove the drain pan to give it a good cleaning as well as shoot some vinegar followed by some compressed air down the drain line to make sure it’s flowing properly. The bag has good elastic banding and sturdy brackets that hook on to the frame of the indoor unit. The hose is plenty long to route into a bucket. I sprayed the coils with foaming cleaner as well as the blower wheel. While those soaked in the cleaner, I washed the drain pain, the air vents and the unit cover outside. Then I rinsed the coils and fan with the Fantik NB8 Nano Portable Electric Sprayer. (Available on Amazon, highly recommended!) I actually ended up doing the fan about 3 times, as every time more gunk would wash away and down the hose into the bucket. The bib worked great on keeping the mess contained, and really makes a lousy job much more tolerable.I’ve seen people claim that a professional charges $300-$500 to clean these. It’s not the most fun I’ve ever had, but if you’re somewhat capable of taking on a DIY project and you watch enough YouTube videos, you can probably handle this job yourself. This bib will certainly encourage me to clean my mini-splits more often, which is probably good for my health and the health of the A/C system.

This worked well for cleaning our Fujitsu mini split air handler, though it turned out to be a bigger job than I anticipated (no fault of the cleaning cover). The cover appears to durable and I think it is worth the money. Make sure you get the right width cover for your unit. You’ll need a 5 gallon bucket to drain the hose into and I ended up putting a plastic drop cloth over some drapes below the unit at my wife’s insistence. The cover contains the mess and channels it into the bucket well but you are bound to get something on the floor so keep some towels near-by.

Excellent product! My mini split coil went out the regular drain unlike other models. This was especially great for the fan wheel cleaning. I was able to use a pump sprayer and clean the fan and this caught it all and drained to the bucket.
