Marineland Hidden LEDs
I’ve had a 40 gallon tank with a Marineland Eclipse 3 hood for many years with no issues, but recently the light assembly stopped working and I couldn’t find a replacement because the hood has been discontinued. I decided to give these a try because they were cheap and advertised as being easy to mount in just about any tank.To be honest I wasn’t expecting much, since it was so cheap and I had doubts about how bright they would be. But now that I have the unit in the tank it’s really blown me away!It has a nice clear white color, maybe a little on the cool side because it’s a mix of white and blue LEDs, and it really brings out the colors on some of my fish well. It seems nearly as bright as the florescents I had before, but I can tell it doesn’t “fill the tank” quite as well as they did. Maybe because it’s all coming from one angle rather than taking up nearly the whole lid.Setup was a breeze. The suction cups on the light work well, and you can adjust the angle of the LEDs within the tube. The switch is on a unit on the cord that has its own suction cup, but the cup on the switch has a little unevenness so it doesn’t stick on mine. No biggie.Night mode is a cool feature, but I don’t really like the look of it. It’s a little too bright for nighttime in my opinion. Overall, I’m very happy with the product.

So far so good
I have a 55Gal tank and one (centered) lit it ok. In order to center it, you have to use the suction cups, that I don’t care for and it made it less hidden, so I ordered another one. I mounted first on the back lip of the tank (snaps on the ledge that holds the glass) and it was way too bright in the room (even pointed straight down). The tank is on a high stand so when sitting on couch the LED’s were kind of in your peripheral vision all the time. So I mounted them to the front lip of the tank and aimed them towards the back. Wow, that’s the effect I was looking for! The hood blocks the LED’s from couch view, its as if the tank has light that comes from no where. Its super bright, every bit as bright as my friend’s light that has 4 t5 tubes in it. I don;t have live plants or coral so I can’t comment on if it the spectrum is there to promote growth, but its plenty bright enough. Here’s what I don’t like…You can choose All ON, Just Blue, or OFF ALL, but just blues is WAY too bright for “moon” even if I leave just one set of blues on it lights up my entire living room at night. There is no way to daisy chain the lights off one switch so now I have an on/off switch on each side of the tank, PITA

Very nice light, but I need to work through a “shadow” problem
This is a nice product. Like a lot of folks, I have a 40 gallon Eclipse 3-compatible tank. The Eclipse 3 has been discontinued and the failure of the built-in hood lighting fixture led me to look for alternatives.I like the quality of the lighting. One strip is giving me plenty of light for my tall acrylic tank. The soft blue night lighting is a very nice touch, even though you have to turn it on manually each night. The Hidden LED Strip Light snapped right onto the front of the Eclipse 3 hood and I was up and running in minutes, which was good. Unfortunately, the design of the hood, with it’s deep receptacle for the “bio wheel” and filter, is causing a shadow as a result of the front-mounted light. See picture. I guess I am going to have to experiment with the suction cups – if I can find what I did with them – to see if a different tank placement is feasible.Aside from this hood-specific issue, my experience with the product is positive. I have noticed an increase in algae, which may be something you want to look for. The light is a little expensive, also.Note: The picture is using the clear lighting mode. My tank has a blue background.

Great for Marineland Tanks
I use a pair of these to supplement my other lights since the mounting spot in my Marineland tank is made to accept these. Pulls 7W from the wall according to my wattage meter. So not the strongest light but nice for a little additional illumination at the front of the tank.

Greatest aquarium light ever!
This is the best light ever. I was concerned about safety – we have cats and a young son, I didn’t want something that would be a fire danger or a danger if it fell into the water. This goes in the tank, so no worry a cat or child will knock it to the floor and start a fire, and it is submersible, so no water danger. On top of that, it works GREAT! I lights up our entire 20 gallon tank. I loved it so much I ordered one for our 30 gallon tank. The lights are plenty bright, it fit great on the lip of our tank, pushed right on easy but secure. The moonlight feature is awesome. Now, even my 6 year old who loves a good nightlight admitted it was too bright to sleep by, but if your tank is in the living room this is a great nightlight to walk to the bathroom or kitchen by.LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this light – I’m a cheapskate and I love it so much that I won’t even complain about the price. Note that we also have one of those submersible airstone/led lights. They are ok, but they shine up into your eyes and don’t fully illuminate the aquarium. This does!

Doesnât Hold
Good that my son has a new light for his tank but the fact it doesnât want to hold like the old one sucks. One side just hangs bc it doesnât want to suction cup to the top.

Unreliable
They’re unreliable. sometimes they work, sometimes they don’t, sometimes they only work on the blue setting, sometimes only white, or sometimes neither. I bought 4 of these and wasted about $200. Do yourself a favor and get a real LED setup

These lights are stunning and have no problem lighting up your fish or plants and giving them vibrant colour. I ordered two for my 50 gallon and even though the lights are a bit far from each other, their light range hits the entire tank without issues! Just be careful which company you’re buying from, the two I got both had faulty bits in the electrical, luckily I’m a electrician and could fix it.
