Great value
Wish I would have looked on Amazon before going to my local pet store to buy this. Paid twice as much at the store and the light bulb died within a month from the store.

Failed after 1 day – Buyer beware
I use these for my parrots in an indoor aviary. UV light (UVA & UVB) is critical for keeping healthy birds. And, no, they don’t care if there is a picture of a reptile instead of a bird on the box.I’ve been using this type of bulb for over 20 years. I learned the hard way that they need to be checked regularly to be sure they are producing UV spectrum light and that 6 months to a year (max) is the greatest amount of time they can be expected to perform.Birds begin to get listless and feather quality diminishes and, eventually, discoloration of feathers will begin to be noticeable if they are not getting enough light in the UV range. I faithfully keep track of the age of the bulbs and replace them at 6 months (or, at most, a year) if there is any deterioration of UV quality. This particular bulb took a while to fully light. I gave it a little time to burn in and it seemed okay. But, before the end of the day the bulb died.I will be more vigilant about checking each and every bulb on arrival and I won’t be using “Lucky Herp” brand bulbs again.

Great product
This item is amazing, but I would say watch for the sizing because this bulb is bigger than your average bulb. For the price itâs a really nice bulb and it works very well. This item didnât get 5 stars because I still have to see how it lasts. Iâll update if anything goes wrong.

Happy Sulcata Tortoise !
I purchased this UVB bulb to put into my sulcata outdoor box. The light is not too bright to bother the tortoise but it gives off great UVB rays. I have tested the light and it does what it says. I usually change the bulbs out way before they burn out as I’ve heard the UVB rays gradually fade. I am happy with the lifespan of the bulbs though. I always buy an extra one to keep on hand. They fit perfectly in the light fixture I have in his habitat. When hes out of his house, he can get natural sun but if he’s stuck inside for cold or raining weather, I am confident he is getting his sun rays. Very pleased and will continue to order more when needed.

At last — an HONEST COMPANY!!!
I have bought, I think, five previous bulbs that claimed to be UV. I have a handy dandy little tester card (highly recommend), and all of those previous ones were fakes. This passes the test! It really and truly does put off UV light. (My students had started wondering about my sanity, as they saw me declare bulb after bulb to be fake. This just may have restored their trust)I wish it were warmer — all the others I bought were 100 watt or more, which was why I didn’t try this earlier. So I am using another bulb, as well, to provide heat. But at 26 watts, this never claims to be especially hot, so I’m ok with that — just wishful thinking. So if you’re looking for real, true UV, this is a bulb you can trust. I’ll still check it at various times, because I know UV doesn’t last as long as the visible light, and I’ll always check any bulb I buy, but I will be buying from this company.

Have tried other brands and they are inconsistent quality. Light going on and off, that sort of thing. Have had no such issue with this brand. Worth the extra few dollars.
