Customers say

Customers find the water dispenser works well for active dogs and puppies, particularly Shih Tzu puppies, and appreciate its size, with one noting it’s perfect for keeping puppies hydrated. The bottle receives mixed feedback regarding quality and value for money, with some finding it good quality for the price while others consider it poor and overpriced. Moreover, the seal and water retention receive mixed reviews – while some say it holds lots of water, others report it doesn’t hold water at all. Additionally, the bottle leaks constantly and doesn’t stay securely on the cage.

    Works great!
I’ve had absolutely no problems with this bottle leaking (as others have) as long as I fill it completely up and create a seal by turning it right side down after filling the bottle and letting any air bubbles rise to the top, and then tapping the ball a few times. It usually drips maybe five times and then stops. The very first time I filled it, it did drip quite a few times more and I was worried, but since then it’s not dripped at all after the initial couple drips. There are more detailed instructions on how to use it on the Lixit website, also.It did take my dog about a week or so to start using the water bottle. We put peanut butter on the spout to entice her. It took a couple times, but now she uses it while she is in her kennel during the day, quite often. The 16 ounce bottle is the perfect size for our 15 pound miniature schnauzer. She goes through about a quarter of the water this bottle holds during her time in her kennel while we are at work. She even will use the water bottle even if she doesn’t need to be in her kennel sometimes. It must “taste different” or be “better water” than the water in her bowl. Ha!I would not hesitate to recommend this product to anyone.

Drips water out non stop so when your dog needs water it is all gone!
Leaks continuously and the attachment thing the gave supposed to be rebounding metal strap, it was so short it didn’t fit so you pull to stretch it out and it stays stretched out so so doesn’t hod the bottle. Horrible design on every level!!

If doggie is happy everbody is happy
I bought this to attach to the outside of my dog’s crate as he has to be left in it for extentend amounts of time while I am at work (he is a puupy and learning potty training) and I worry about dehydration. The first couple of days, I don’t think he used it much as there was not much if any gone from the container. I don’t think he knew to because I didn’t really actively try to show him what it was and what it did. But after those inital days, he has used it quite a bit and he discovered this on his own.The bottle is easy to use. You have to fill it to the top to create a vacuum in order for it to work properly or so the directions say. The size was perfect for him and the contents have lasted several days without needing to be refreshed. Because he is a puppy and I don’t want him drinkning too much (because then he will need to pee more) I think this bottle is perfect. In fact a smaller one would be fine if you dont mind filling it more frequently. It does not leak (if filled properly) but did leak a little as I was securing it to the cage beacause it is basically strapped into place (with an included metal spring cord and clips) and I had to squeeze it a bit to get the cord secured around it.All in all a greatand useful purchase!

    Good water feeder
Attached it to my dog crate for her flight in cargo. It stayed on the whole time. The only problem is that it leaks a little, a very slow drip but the bowl it comes with catches the drips.

    Works great!!!!!
Fill it up. Twist on the valve/lid. Invert it. Touch the ball a few times to let it drip, and that’s it!! Doesn’t drip at all. Just to make sure it would be OK before leaving our dog over night with it, I filled it up and inverted it and placed it where he couldn’t get to it for now. 7 days later, it’s still completely full. I tapped the ball, drips just like it’s supposed to. So for those that couldn’t get it to work right, one of these things must be wrong:1-it wasn’t filled all the way to the top2-it has to be completely vertical, not slanted at all, maybe it was slanted3-it could have a hole in the plastic keeping it from forming a vacuum4-maybe the O ring is missing5-are the valve and balls clean? If not, that can cause it to leak.6-it could have some other defectOtherwise, I have no idea. This probably makes the 20th Lixit brand water bottle I’ve owned over the years (I used to raise rabbits and Guinea pigs) and I’ve never had one that didn’t work perfectly.

Great Idea, but keaks and is difficult to use.
I bought this because my dog would be in his kennel for hours at a time while my wife and I were gone, and I wanted him to be able to have water to drink.Overall, it’s a good concept. You vacuum seal the nozzle with two balls that allow the dog to lick the nozzle and let water out. However, the execution on this product is just okay. I found that it leaked more frequently than we wanted. Also, our dog didn’t seem to use it much. He would lick it and I saw him try to drink out of it, but our dog (a fairly large Great Dane) didn’t seem to get enough water to enjoy it.The biggest complaint I have with the product is how much it leaks. It is difficult to fill up, with the screwed on part of the nozzle seemingly not having enough thread, so it was a pain to screw on that part. And then once you screw on that part and turn it over, the vacuum seal was not strong enough and water would drip out of it. I spent quite a long time trying to get the seal to stay so that it would not leak, as we did not want water leaking all over my dog’s kennel. I watched YouTube videos and tutorials on how to properly fill it and flip it over so that it wouldn’t leak. It’s a very frustrating process. And then, once I was able to successfully turn the water bottle upside down so that it didn’t leak, it would spill and make a mess when attaching it to the kennel. There are two metal pieces that are used to balance this water bottle and attach it to the cage part of the dog’s kennel. Personally, I didn’t think that the way it is designed is efficient. It truly feels like the water bottle is just balancing along the cage, and because of this, every time we would try to attach it, it was difficult to get it to balance, and then water would spill.I was able to successfully attach it to the cage a handful of times, but again, my dog’s preference just isn’t to drink out of it, so it was mostly unused. Lately we’ve been letting our dog out in the house while we are gone, so he has access to his water bowl, and we don’t even use the water bottle.Overall, it’s a good concept. The execution could be better, with how it attaches to a kennel and how the vacuum seals the water. If you can get the vacuum sealed, get it attached to the kennel without leaking, and your dog likes to drink out of it, then it would be a great product. Unfortunately those things didn’t happen for me.

My dog caught on to using the Lixit very quickly and loves drinking from it… even choosing to use it sometimes when she is not confined to her kennel and the door is left open for her to come and go as she pleases.. I love it because it does not get tipped over or fall off the cage wall like many of the clip on bowls and therefore does not soak my dog’s mattress.

Perfect for in my pup’s crate when a bowl isn’t feasible. Unfortunately it is so easy to drink from, she now prefers returning to her crate for water rather than drink from her bowl! Note: there are multiple sizes of tube so make sure you buy the larger one if for a dog!If the manufacturer is reading this; I would love to see the bottle come in glass or stainless and made to be dishwasher safe. Currently I soak in vinegar/water and use a bottle brush but would be nice to sanitize thoroughly.

I really like that. It has a wider mouth to fill in the water, which is a lot easier to fill them up. They’re just a little bit more expensive than you some other ones that I found. So I haven’t ordered more otherwise if they were cheaper, I would have ordered more. They work great for my rabbits. And the metal nipple on them, it doesn’t get clogged like some water bottles. So they work great
