Works well for southern alligator lizard!
I chose this product to help ensure the long-term health of a southern alligator lizard, and so far, the lizard’s thrived.The bulb projects vivid light, but, being a CFL, doesn’t give off much heat; I use it alongside an incandescent heat bulb and under tank heating pad that maintain proper tank temperature.I also use it with an on/off timer to mimic day and night.It’s important to choose the right UV bulb for the species. This bulb’s 5% UVB and 30% UVA outputs seem appropriate for southern alligator lizards, according to multiple information sources. I saw other bulbs are available for reptiles with much different UV requirements, like green iguanas.

Average light, but provides a lot of information
Reptiles and Amphibians need UVB lights to live in captivity. It helps provide a natural source of Vitamin D3 for them and gives them strong bones. âLEOTERRA 26W 10.0 Desert Reptile UVB Bulb,UVA UVB Reptile Lightâ provides both says that it provides both UVA (which is your basic white light) and UVB. This light seems to function well, it produced light comparable to others that I have. I change them out every 6 months or so as the lights themselves wear down before they burn out. This is true for all brands.They also provide a fair amount of detail about the light spectrum of the bulb on the package, which shows the information about the difference between the two different types of light that this provides in a graph form for those that are unfamiliar. This is more than a lot of other brands that you will find on Amazon will provide for you.The one thing that I would mention is that they list that a 5.0 UVB is good for Green Iguanas, but this is not the recommended strength for them. They are found in an area of the world where there is a lot more sun, so they are used to the more intense sunlight. So a 10.0 is more appropriate. They do list âFor Reference Only, Please Follow Your Own Experience. We Believe That You Are An Experienced Reptile Loverâ which is something that I like about their product page.
