the best for a urine sample
This worked so well for collecting a urine sample for our cat. We were originally given Nosorb from the vet and our cat refused to pee in the litter box with it. I was stressing out because I didnât want her to undergo the procedure for them to get it at the vet, so I found this on Amazon and it worked! Itâs a small amount – but we used a smaller litter box and it covered the entire base. We put our cat into it and it took her a few tries but she finally went! Her urine didnât absorb into the litter but instead sat on top. I was able to easily suck up the pee using a syringe (I wouldnât recommend the eye dropper they provide as it takes forever). The texture was sand like and much closer to actual litter texture. Highly recommend!

Fantastic Product
My male cat is skittish and had a persistent UTI. I needed to collect a urine sample for the vet, but the cat would not use the litter box with beads instead of his litter. I ordered this product and it worked quite well. The cat was a little apprehensive at first because it is sand and not the litter that he is used to, but eventually, he evacuated his bladder. The urine really does stand on top of the sand and does not contaminate the specimen. Pips and vials are provided to collect the specimen to take to the vet. I would never have believed it if I had not seen it! I have bought this produce twice and will buy it again if necessary.

It really works!
This is the perfect litter to use when a urine sample needs to be collected for the vet; the urine pools on top of the litter and the included bulb syringes (think mini turkey baster) make it very easy to collect the urine and store it in the vial prior to bringing the sample to the vet. I’ve had to use this litter twice with our cats and the different texture from their regular litter didn’t bother them at all. The litter comes in 3 small bags and I did have to use all of them both times.

Could use bigger bags of litter in the kits
The only real issue we had is that there’s not much litter in each bag. Our kitty is a “digger” who likes to throw litter around. She has 2 large litter boxes (one on each story) to try to minimize the mess on the floor. We got smaller boxes to use for getting her sample. She didn’t seem to mind the Kit4Cat litter, but she didn’t appear to be happy with the amount of litter in the smaller boxes. We ended up putting a full bag plus half of another bag in each box. She was OK with that, and did provide us with a good sample.We’ve had other kitties that had issues that required us to get urine samples, and it was never easy. This litter would have been great when we had those kitties. This was much easier than trying to use plastic bags, and much less expensive, and better for the kitty, than needing the vet to “extract” it.This seems to be a good product, and we will buy it again when the need arises. It would have been easier if the litter came in one pound bags. It seems that most cats want a decent amount of litter in their box. Lord knows, a cat parent doesn’t want to do anything that would make their baby think about going outside the litter box.

needed to bring in a urine sample from my cat Pixie and this product performed perfectly. There was enough “sand” in one packet to spread across the bottom of the litter box and just as stated, the urine sat on top of the sand and was easily collected with the supplied pipette and specimen tube. Works but with Caveats
First, the product does work. At its very basic function of what you want it to do, it works. I was able to collect the urine on top. There is a very big but, though. If you are trying to collect a urine sample for the vet to test, and not just use test strips, the product can and probably will interfere with the results because there is a high likelihood of some sediment being collected with the urine. This poses a really big problem when cats are being tested for urinary infections, crystals, etc. My vet tested the sample and we pretty much can’t trust the results because of the sediment. Now, we have to go back to using Nosorb and have his urine retested. It’s not the product’s fault, but it does not work for the testing we needed. In addition, there really isn’t a lot for 3 pounds. I thought there would be more but I guess because it’s so dense, there’s not a lot of product to make up the 3 pounds. I, unfortunately, will not be purchasing this product again.

So easy and cost effective!
I had to use this in a much smaller litter box because there isnât a lot of the sand, but my cat used it and the urine did indeed pool on the top where I could use a pipette to put it in a vial. The pipette included is tiny, though, so I used a bigger one that I had. I didnât use the test strips but instead dropped the sample at my vet. Still, it was less expensive and a lot less stressful on my cat, and me!

perfect amount of sand for my smaller travel sized litterbox , kitty used it no problem. I wish i would have gotten one with more than 2 test strips bc i messed up the first one. the results were fairly accurate and matched what i had my vet do later. Update: After using it, I realized I should have only used half the sand, so I could stretch it into a two-time use. I think there is a enough, in a small litterbox, to divide in half, unless your cat is picky about it.

The urine floats on top. It is amazing. We just tried it and my cat was fine. She only had stomach problem. Saved money on a lot of useless tests.

Easy to use, although pipette and test tube a bit small – however loved the second strip just in case. The protein marker was difficult to read due to very similar colours but thought there was an issue. We tested our cat, he used the litter as normal stuff (use alone – no other litter. Don’t be deterred by lack of coverage. We have extra large cat -6.8kg – so extra large litter tray, sparse cover, still worked well) we thought possible urinary infection as blocked 1 year ago and was (sorry graphic) grooming his penis in a way he hasn’t before. Test suggested ph problem (UTI) and protein in urine (kidney problem). Straight to vet who confirmed PH imbalance possible cystitis, possible early diagnosis of kidney disease…. that was after blood tests and further urine analysis. So for an extremely nervous stressed out cat this worked well to test before subjecting him to the severe stress of a visit to the vet. Although that is where it ulimately led! Will buy again!! Thank you.

This is an awesome product. We have been using Pretty litter and when it indicated blue meaning possible urinary tract infection we phoned the vet. They explained we could find a product such as this to collect a sample for them to test. They explained it is a much more difficult process in the office as one of my cats is shall we say aggressive with the vet. So we tried another product first which I’m sure works fine for some but my cats wouldn’t use it as it looked and felt nothing like cat litter. So round 2 I found this product and it seemed to fix the issues I was having. I set up a small litter box and separated my cats they each had a turn. I was amazed this product feels and looks like sand but let me tell you it acts very different. It was amazing the cats jumped right in they can’t resist a fresh litter box. The urine sits perfectly on top and was extremely easy to collect and put in the sample tube. I labeled and placed the samples in the fridge to bring to the vet in the morning. Once at the vet it only took them around 15 minutes to process the samples. We found that our little boy Romeo had a mild bladder infection. We caught it early so a bit of antibiotics and a food change and we were good to go. I will be using this product exclusively anytime I am concerned with my pets health. It is such an easy and affordable process. I just want to thank the makers of this amazing medical tool.

Demorou pra chegar porque vem de fora, mas funciona muito bem. Meu gato não fazia xixi de jeito nenhum sem a areia na caixa e esse foi o único jeito de conseguir coletar a urina sem ter que fazer extração diretamente na bexiga. A areia não absorve a urina e vc retira com uma seringa. No pacote já vem tudo inclusive o recipiente pra levar a urina ao veterinário.
