Josh’s Frogs’ Dig-It substrate is specifically designed for animals that enjoy burrowing. Containing peat moss and vermiculite, Dig-It is great at retaining humidity and allows for tunneling and burrowing.
Dig-It also makes a great substrate for lay boxes, and is ideal for reptiles to lay their eggs in. Eggs are then removed and placed on one of Josh’s Frogs Incubation Medias.

great substrate
I use this for my tarantulas and they love it. It’s easy to work with and they don’t seem to have any issues webbing it up and moving it around as they see fit. I have live plants in it as well and they don’t seem to be wilting or having any issues with lack of nutrients.

Good quality, snake loves it.
I was gifted my first snake, and needed to get her substrate. I usually use zoo med for my spiders, but the cost plus the amount of substrate you can get with this brand is a better option in my opinion. She has no issue sliding through the dirt, it’s just perfect for her. I will absolutely buy this again for her next deep clean.

Great PART of gecko tank
I wanted something that I could use for part of my leopard gecko tanks, so they could burrow around in. Iâve only put this in sections of the tank out of fear of them eating it accidentally. They explore and dig around in it at night and itâs great for the live plants in their tanks

Great Product, Excellent Brand
This stuff is awesome, and exactly as advertised for burrowing and humidity. After a couple years of struggling to keep the humidity stable in our ball pythonsâ enclosures this is what finally has worked, and both snakes have responded very well to it. This particular substrate is pretty pricey for the size of bag, though, so would be a harder sell for anyone with multiple enclosures. Joshs frogs is a great brand though (have also ordered houseplants from them) so their other substrates that are coconut fiber based and/ or are designed to hold humidity and heat would probably be worth looking into for any new humidity-inclined reptile owners looking at reviews with this in mind.
