About Coco Cradle
Josh’s Frogs Coco Cradle is created from finely ground coconut husk, sometimes called coco fiber, coconut fiber, or simply coco.
Josh’s Frogs Coconut Beddings and Substrates are direct from a family-owned production facility in Sri Lanka and are organically grown, 100% natural, and safe for your pets.

How to Prep Bricks:
Soak the Coco Brick or Disk for at least 1 hour in dechlorinated water before use. Josh’s Frogs Dechlorinator Tap Water Conditioner (4 oz) will make your tap water safe. Each Coco Brick will expand to 4-6 times its original volume, based on the amount of water used.
Only soak what you plan to use, do not store wet (or else m0ld can grow).

For Animal Use:
Coco Fiber is soft, absorbent, easy to clean and facilitates burrowing. Coco Fiber is perfect for a wide range of reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates that require moderate to high humidity like:
Crested Geckos and Day GeckosTropical TortoisesPac Man Frogs and Tree FrogsAnoles and other tropical lizardsRed Tail BoasEmperor Scorpions, Tarantulas, Millipedes and other invertebratesHermit Crabs (only when mixed with play sand. Using by itself can cause m0ld.)

For Horticultural Use:
Josh’s Frogs Coconut Substrates can also be used in horticulture as a growing medium, moisture retainer, soil conditioner, mulching agent, or root developer for home, garden, or commercial purposes. Coconut fiber can retain 8-9 times its weight in water. In addition to water, coconut fiber does a great job absorbing nutrients, aerating soil, and promoting healthy root growth.
We also offer Coco Cradle in bags with no prep needed!

Customers say
Customers find the coco block to be of excellent quality, working well and being super clean. They appreciate its ease of use, with one customer noting it’s much easier than expected, and another mentioning it fills a 12-gallon bin. The substrate receives positive feedback, with one customer using it successfully for a baby sulcata tortoise, and another noting their plants love it. The size and value for money receive mixed reviews, with some finding it too costly while others consider it a great value.

A coir brick that you can break with your hands?!
This coir is excellent and I was surprised to find that I could actually grade it against some of my hardware cloth sifter/sieves and turn it into a dry powder. It can be ripped apart into chunks without wetting but the bale is a little bigger than other bales, so its probably not as compressed. It also seemed to be faster in absorbing water than all other coir bricks I’ve used in the past. The price is the hard part for me since I usually get coco coir in 2CuFt bags, ~60 quarts, from a wholesale nursery supplier and those are $12 per. This coco coir is only 38 quarts, or ~1.27CuFt. I’m not going to do the math but its clearly much more expensive, too expensive for me because it affects the cost of my own products. It is very good stuff and I recommend it if you need coir, but expect to pay much more than you should. Unfortunately, even this coir is affected by the backup in freight ships and is now out of stock at the time of this writing.

Great Value for a great price
Its my first time using a dehydrated coconut fiber so I wasn’t exactly sure how well or even how it worked really but its so much easier than I expected. AND you get so much substrate out of it. It filled out a 12 gallon bin I had hut I did had to put it in 2 12 gallon bins just to make sure I didn’t miss a piece. Very happy with the results, although I did put a little too much water but you just gotta let it dry out a little.

Excellent quality coco block
I ordered this stuff to go in all my reptile enclosures, I have several different kinds of reptiles and its safe & healthy for all of them. I ordered the large size block and it was the perfect amount to do everything I needed and can tell it’s great quality so I don’t have to worry about my babies. Definitely ordering all my coco block from Josh’s frogs from now on.

Good product at a good price, mind the mess.
Great product but it could have been packaged better. The coco fibers broke out of the packaging in the mail and caused a slight mess in the box. The box had other reptile items so itâs not a big deal just the first Iâve ever had this issue. Still an awesome product. Use it with my carnivorous plants, mantids, and jumping spiders.

Tiny Brick, BIG RESULTS 10/10
Looks can be deceiving. This tightly packed brick turns into a TON of substrate. I opened the package, put it in a small empty plastic waste bin (the size you use for a bathroom) and added the recommended amount of water. I set it in the garage overnight and when we woke up =BOOOMMMM! Waste bin full of fluffy high quality substrate for our hermit crab tank. With one bag of the substrate sand and one bin full of this product, it was perfect for a 10 gallon glass tank for our hermit crabs. Great buy.

really great
I used this as a base for some starter soil in my garden. Shipped super fast, and I was legitimately surprised at just how much of this stuff got compacted into a small container.Really great, my plants love it so I love it too. A huge plus is that I have more than enough to use towards next season. I’ll definitely be buying this again.

Great product
We bought this so my daughter could turn her rat cages bioactive and it was perfect. The rats love digging in it and the cages smell so much cleaner! We had enough leftover to change out our snake tank as well and the snake seems to really enjoy it.

The Health of my animals
I had been using a different type of bedding for my snakes that were small chunks and wanted to find a new bedding that held moisture better. I decided to go with the finely chopped coco husk bedding and all my snakes 11 in total love it so much they are back to burrowing in it were they had stopped doing that with the last bedding. It so nice to see my babies doing what they use to before trying that last bedding.
