Why do Birds Need a Cuttlebone?
JMXU’S cuttlebone is your choice
Most people have heard the saying that calcium builds strong bones, but it’s important to realize that the same applies to birds. Cuttlebone is an important dietary supplement for birds because it is a great source of necessary minerals and calcium, which helps birds with bone formation and blood clotting.
Cuttlebone is an inexpensive source of calcium carbonate and other trace minerals for your bird. It is a natural product and doesn’t contain toxins or contaminants. Cuttlebone has a rough texture, making it an ideal tool to help support beak strength. Birds can use cuttlebones to help keep their beaks trimmed and sharp. Hang the cuttlebone in your bird’s cage for your bird to chew on. Make sure that the soft side of the cuttlebone is facing the bird because the hard side might be too hard to scrape through. Also can use a tool to scrape the cuttlebone into powder form and put them into the bird food.

Customers say
Customers find the cuttlebones effective for birds, particularly finches, and appreciate their quality. However, the size and sturdiness receive mixed feedback – while some like the size, others find them much smaller than expected, and while some praise the quality, others report they break easily. Moreover, the metal holders are criticized for being thin like tin foil and not holding the wire properly, and customers disagree on whether the product is worth the money.

Small is petite, but a good size for my parakeet. They are fresh and well packed for transport.
My pet parakeet was just re-homed to me about 3 weeks ago. She is about 1.5 years old. I don’t believe her previous owner ever gave her a cuttlebone.I searched for a cuttlebone that was not too big.I opened the box to find 4 petite cuttlebones. All of them came individually wrapped for transport safety. All 4 bones arrived intact. All 4 bones appear bright and fresh, without dark sports or strange markings. My bird is a parakeet, so these bones and their size are fine for her. I don’t have a cuttlebone holder, so I was counting on the little metal clip to hold the bone. Well, it broke pretty quickly. I managed to secure the bone inside her cage using some of her toys. I’ll have to look for a better holder. She avoided the bone for a few days, but then finally went for it. I have been watching her crunching and rubbing on it each day, since. She is still on her first bone. It is holding up nicely. She is able to wear it down and chew the edges, but it’s not wearing away too quickly or breaking apart. As far as cuttlebones go, I think these are of good quality. they are just soft enough. My bird appears to really love it.

AMAZING FOR PICKY BIRDS
Okay so let me just sayâthese cuttlebones are like the gold standard of bird care . I got them for my cockatiel, Berry, who is the absolute PICKIEST little prince when it comes to toys, perches, or anything in his cage. But the moment I tightened one of these in, he immediately started pecking and nibbling like it was his favorite snack ever. The quality of these cuttlebones is chefâs kiss perfect. Theyâre thick but not TOO hardâBerry can flake it off easily with his beak, and I love that they arenât so crumbly that thereâs powdery mess all over the bottom of the cage. Just the right texture! Plus, they come in a multi-pack (mine came with 4 bones total), so itâs super convenient to always have a fresh one ready when he finishes the old oneAnother thing I LOVE is how they help keep his beak trimmed! Before I started giving him cuttlebones regularly, his beak would grow a bit long between vet visits. But ever since I started offering these? these also keep his beak look sharp, healthy, and shaped PERFECTLY. Not even kidding. They also have a natural calcium boost, which is SO important for cockatiels and other parrots, especially during molting or if theyâre laying eggs (Berry is a boy, but stillâhealth matters!!). Iâve noticed his feathers looking shinier and stronger since I made cuttlebones a regular thing in his cage. The clips that come with them are definitely a bit hard to put in but they do the job! iâd hope they were real clips but i ended up having to use a holder since they kept falling but they do work if your bird doesnât try to pull them out like mine!Overall, I love this product. If your bird has a longer beak, you NEED to get these cuttlebones. Theyâre affordable, long-lasting, and make such a difference in both physical health and mental enrichmentIf I could give this product 100 stars I WOULD!!! It works so well and are definitely top peak fresh â¥ï¸

Very poor quality
Very disappointed, they are in pieces, and very thin . I took pictures of them . The first 3 pic are of them and the other two pics are of one I had in a cage for a month. The holder that came with it is plastic and will break them . And only got one holder. Which does not help since I have more the two cages. So at this point I would not recommend theses for sure. Did try to contact saler , so will see how they handle things. Or if they do.

Great Cuttlebone
I get cuttlebone for my turtle to trim his beak on and for my snail to get extra calcium for his shell. I received four pieces as advertised and they are of adequate length and size for my pets. I’ve had no problems with them.

Small but reasonable price!
The price was good but they were a little small. They donât stay in the holders as well when they are small.

The metal on the back is quite flimsy and doesnât hold too well to the cage but if youâre able to drill a hole throgg it h the top and put a chain through them then these are amazing
