It’s not orange!
About the title – I recently got another ice bucket that was, at the time, only available in orange. When I ordered, I thought I could ignore it, or deal with it. I was wrong. Thank goodness this one came along soon after!THIS ice bucket is a stately and entirely respectable-looking stainless-steel/silver, which earns it a solid three stars right out of the gate. The ice scoop included is actually sized for normal human hands, not for ants. (We will politely avoid mentioning the tongs except to say that they exist.) The lid is well-fitting and secure, and the handle is sturdy and securely attached. And best of all not a single one of them is orange.The review box is prompting me to discuss the “ease of use” of the ice bucket, but honestly I think you’re all intelligent enough to know that any ice bucket is going to be easy to use. You open the lid, put ice in, close the lid; open the lid, take ice out, close the lid. Depending on the temperature of your surroundings you may not even need to use the lid. It’s not oran–I mean, it’s not rocket science.The one teensy tiny thing I’m not 100% sure on right now is “ice retention,” which I’m also being prompted to discuss. I assume this means “how well does it keep the ice frozen,” and how “how well does the ice stay inside the bucket.” And… I’ll be honest, the ice did melt a lot quicker than I expected. The bucket feels very lightweight – could it be that the walls are thin and not as insulating as they could be?But I must also point out that on the day I was testing this silver ice bucket (did I mention that it’s silver and not orange? yes? okay good), it was like 107F where I live, and we haven’t even officially gotten to The Hot Months yet. So I’m not sure I can blame “quickly melting ice” on the ice bucket per se. It might have just been the scorching and completely unreasonable heat. I’m going to come back to this review in a few months once Mother Nature is sane again and update it to let you know my final verdict on that aspect of things.As of the time of this review the ice bucket is listed at about $23; I’m not an ice bucket aficionado, but that seems pretty reasonable for a bucket that’s a traditional silver color–or even a white or black. As long as it’s not orange. Which this one, happily, is not. Very sleek looking ice bucket. Keeps ice from melting for hours. Much better than other plastic or acrylic ice buckets.  Inexpensive, so good value for the money. Not too big, not too small.
