Reliable and easy to use
This heater was a replacement for a flat heater that didn’t work at all. Hygger has been a great brand for us. I have been happy with all of the aquarium equipment that I have purchased from them.The heater is in a 2.5 gallon tank. It’s been maintaining a consistent temperature for several months now. So far, it seems durable and setting the temperature using the attached temperature control unit is very easy. I recommend this heater for small aquariums. The build quality and durability make this a good value for the money.

Powerful little heater for small tanks
I had a small fish tank set up for a snail and my old heater didn’t have any settings. I would find the temp rising so I’d shut it off for a few hours. This was not ideal since I wasn’t home to monitor this all day. Purchased this Hygger heater and it works great. It was easy to set up and use, the quality seems to be great, and it’s a good value for the cost.I no longer have this tank in use, but should I again, I’ll definitely be using it.

Nice size for small hospital tank – not perfect but good
I bought this for its small size to use in a small hospital tank. When I first turned it on, it got up to temp fairly fast but when I stuck my hand in the tank much of the water was still cold. I gave it a good stir and then all was well. It seemed like it thought it had reached temp because the water immediately around the heater was warm so it was holding steady there. This might only be an issue on tanks with no circulation. Once I manually circulated the water it did great and held temp nicely. The temp is matching my floating thermometer within a degree or so. I would recommend primarily due to its small size.

Way too Slow to Heat
Heat timing is terrible!I bought a 2.5 gallon tank and heater from the local aquarium with a heater that was pre-set at 78 degrees. My betta fish like the tank to be about 79-80 degrees so I bought the hygger tank heater because it allows for heat adjustments.Keep in mind, my tank was ALREADY at 78 degrees when I put the hygger heater in. How hard could it be to jack up the heat by ONE degree?? Apparently, very hard.I took out the old heater, put the new hygger heater in, and set the temperature for 79. Unfortunately, the hygger STARTS at 62 degrees and works its way up to the desired temperature. That’s crazy!! Why doesn’t it automatically start at 78 like every other preset heater??? 19 hours later, and my tank is still only at 78 degrees.Nowhere on the box or in the instructions does it say that the heater starts at 62 degrees or that it takes a full day (maybe more…who knows??!) to get it up to the desired temperature. I thought about leaving the other heater in the tank while I waited for the hygger to finally kick in, but I didn’t want the hygger to detect warmer water and stop working (as the directions say it will do), and I didn’t want to risk over heating my fish.Overall, just really poor directions and a total lack of communication on how slowly the heater would reach 79 degrees.My poor betta fish is doing fine so far but I feel bad for him having been so stressed.

Discrete reliable heater for small tanks
These heaters are great for small aquariums. I have two 5.5g aquariums and these heaters work like a charm. Easy to adjust the temperature rather than playing a guessing game.

Control and Value
Works extremely well for what it is. I’m using for 5.5 gallon aquarium. Love that it has an automatic shut off/no heating feature if the temp goes one tick above the set temp. May end up buying again for another tank. I enjoy the heaters that you can control the setting on. The preset heaters that have no control option are all trash. Value is nice too.

TenÃa el modelo de 25w en un acuario plantado de 5 galones. Las primeras 3 semanas funcionó a la perfección manteniendo el agua a 25ºC constantes hasta que hoy note que estaban saliendo burbujas muy pequeñas del caucho de abajo que protege el calentador y al ver la temperatura la habÃa subido a 34ºC y a pesar de que la lectura del display estaba bien, no dejaba de calentar⦠me parecÃa un producto bonito sobre todo por el tamaño pero creo que no vale la pena arriesgarse y mejor comprar una marca más establecida.
