I use these as a plastic-free alternative to dog poop bags
I really want to make an effort to reduce my use of single-use plastics, even the ones that are supposedly biodegradeable. So, my choices were paper or reuseable. No thanks to the reuseable. But paper comes in all kinds of forms and is very biodegradeable.They’re waxed so they’re moisture resistant, which means you can pick up most dog poop without it soaking through the bag onto your fingers. They also hold up to light rain, which beads up on the paper.They’re a little more delicate than a plastic bag so you have to work out how to pick up dog poop with them. I just do a careful version of what I did with plastic bags – stick my hand in the bag, pick up the poop, and careful turn the bag inside out around the poop. This is where you have to be careful because the bag can tear, though I’ve only had it tear around the top. Then I twist it and toss it.I have two Dobermans and I can use one bag per poop, generally. If a poop is kind of messy I’ll involve paper towels. But, messy poops are hard to pick up with plastic bags, too.Anyway, I like this as an alternative. I’d have preferred the bag to be gusseted on the bottom as well as the sides, but I can’t seem to find that. But being waxed and having this level of thickness to the paper seems to suffice.
