High quality and variety!
I own 7 birds of 3 different species, and while seed is the smallest part of their diets, I make sure the seed they do eat is top quality. Higgins is the seed I feed ALL my birds big and small. No artificial colors or chemical favors, just natural nutrition from a HUGE variety of seeds, grains, nuts, vegetables, fruit, and herbs in every bag. Higgins is REAL food! It smells like it’s for humans but it’s a nutritional treat for birds. Every one of my birds LOVE Higgins and I feel good giving it to them.My cockatoo is always thrilled to find whole nuts in the shell in the mix, while my conures love finding peppers and bananas. I use Higgins to fill their foraging toys. This is not just a treat, but can also be an exciting foraging activity to keep feathered friend busy and happy. Can’t say enough good thing about this bird food!

My little miss picky Buzzard butt LOVES THIS. I have actually heard her talking to it. Favorite yummy and she’ll ” oooh yummy ” and purrs like a cat she is so happy.

Love, love, love this product. From the moment I open the bag, it smells so good, to seeing my parrots enjoying this with their pellets, is why I love this food. I seem to remember that Higgins was a brand that is trusted. I do buy other, more seed based, food for my guys, for a little variety, but Sunburst is always on hand.

the more disappointed I have become
The more I buy this product, the more disappointed I have become. The larger nuts are fewer and fewer. The larger macaws will not like this product if they are used to larger nuts. The product has more tiny specimens meant for smaller birds not macaws.

Gandalph (my Macaw) loves the Higgins formula bird food. There is just enoough of each kind of food to keep him interested, and he LOVES the peanuts.

Not to good
Our macaw wouldnât eat it so we tried to give it to our other birds and they wouldnât eat much of it. They picked out a few pieces and left a lot.

Most parrots, including mine, choose sunflower seeds over all other seeds. Unfortunately, sunflower seeds arenât the healthiest for parrots, and a diet too high in sunflower can lead to weight gain and various health issues caused by vitamin deficiencies. This mix of seed offers a wonderful balance of seed (not just sunflower), pellet, nuts, and fruits. While two of my three parrots will go after the sunflower seeds first, there isn’t enough in a scoop to satisfy their hunger so they will then go after the other seeds (sunflower, safflower, pumpkin, etc.) and nuts before hitting the pellets. I trust this to be a more balanced mix of seed versus other brands (or even lines of Higgins) which are predominately sunflower. A bonus: the resealable packaging actually does reseal!

Seems to be a lot of small seeds, and just some big nuts . I would have liked to have seen more bigger stuff and some veggies ( freeze-dried: hot peppers, broccoli, cauliflower etc)
