Traps squirrels and rats, effortless … 30s setup
Overnight it caught something with just 30 sec trap setup. After clearing that, it caught squirrel in the daytime only 2 hours after. I used only shelled unsalted peanuts. I did also find some cones and small fruit. I scattered those around and put main bunch behind the trap trigger plate.Overall, this trap definitely works. The cage wall (mesh) spacing is narrow but narrower squares would have been nicer. I am glad the rat was not able to get out. Did notice that both squirrel and rat were able to stick out the nose. the trap door has good spring tension and was able to spring down and stay down. After 2 uses the trigger holding rod kept releasing the door so I had to bend/adjust so that it worked. This trap haa taken care of my immediate problem. It saved much time and effort. It is worth getting one of this size and one smaller if the squirrels in your yard are smaller. Good quality and design.

This trap works well, and works fast.
This trap works well. Very sensitive trip mechanism. Caught 5 squirrels the first week. Much better than the previous bulky trap I purchased a couple of years ago. This trap is easy to use and clean. Perfect size for catching squirrels and transporting them to their new home – very far from my house. This trap is well made.

Great but wish it was a little bigger
I purchased this squirrel cage after noticing increased activity around my bird feeders and garden. After some research, I chose this model due to the solid reviews, reasonable price, and humane design â and Iâm happy to say it has lived up to expectations in nearly every way.The cage is well-built with sturdy metal wiring and a reliable spring-loaded trap door. Setup was straightforward â I just placed some peanut butter on a cracker on the trigger plate, and within 24 hours, I had my first little visitor. The door snapped shut cleanly and securely, and the squirrel was safely contained without any signs of injury or panic. Iâve now used it multiple times, and itâs worked consistently every time.I appreciate the thoughtful design, especially the smooth edges and the handle with a protective plate, which makes transporting the cage easy and safe. The trigger mechanism is sensitive enough to trip even with lightweight squirrels, but not so touchy that it misfires when bumped or jostled by the wind.My only minor gripe â and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5 â is the size. Itâs adequate for smaller squirrels, but I do wish it had just a bit more room inside. A slightly larger size would reduce stress for the animals and give them a little more space to move until I can release them. If youâre dealing with larger squirrels or plan to use this for other small critters like chipmunks or rats, you may want to look into a larger model.Overall, this is an excellent, humane trap that works exactly as advertised. Itâs a great solution for anyone looking to relocate squirrels without harm. Just keep in mind the size limitations â otherwise, itâs a solid investment and one Iâd recommend.

Effective Trap
I had to get rid of a juvenile possum that was coming in the dog door. I practiced opening the trap several times to make sure when I caught it, I could safely release. I liked that there was no set up needed besides opening and securing the door. I baited with cat food and nothing the first night. I used dog treats the second night and it sprung the trap. The third night I placed the bait more strategically and caught the little rascal. It was relocated about 10 miles away in a new woodsy home. The only down side was if this had been an adult possum, it would have been too small.

If you mean business, this will catch squirrels
For the price, a very effective, if bare bones product. I could think of several ways to make releasing angry critters a bit less complicated.Squirrels have overrun our neighborhood due likely to a nearby homeowner providing them unlimited peanuts. They chewed apart the wiring under the hood on our car, stashing peanut shells in the engine bay. It cost hundreds to have it fixed. The trap is bare bones, and it does take some doing to release a pissed off squirrel without getting your fingers too close. Every indication is, they would bite any finger that came through the grid! They gnaw vigorously on the wires. I ended up using a Vise Grips and a Channel-Lock to release the catch and pull the door open, with the trap sitting on the tailgate of our van.We caught three of the retched varmints in the first 24 hours, and took them to a highway rest area 10 miles away, on the other side of a river and across the freeway. They have lots of big Douglas Firs nearby, and a 50 acre hazelnut grove to infest. With any luck, we’ll make a dozen more trips in the next week or so.
