Tell pesky parasites to ‘bug off’ with Hartz UltraGuard Pro Flea & Tick Treatment for Cats and Kittens. Each convenient and easy to apply, single dose tube kills fleas, deer ticks, flea eggs, flea larvae and prevents re-infestation, stopping the flea life cycle in its tracks. Also repels mosquitos. The proprietary Pro-cision Flo applicator easily penetrates short and long fur for on-skin application, directly onto your cat’s skin. Formula stays on and does not rub off. Use only on cats or kittens 5 pounds and over, 12 weeks of age and older. Package contains three applications—a three-month supply.

Directions: Remove one applicator tube from package and hold in an upright position away from your face. Twist dispensing tip clockwise about 1/2 turn while pushing down to break the tube’s seal. Do not remove the dispensing tip. Position the tip of the tube at the base of the pet’s back between the shoulder blades and squeeze out the entire contents of the tube to form a stripe as you move from the shoulder blades along the back to the base of the tail. The treated area may appear oily after application. Repeat every month. Consult a veterinarian before using this product on debilitated, aged or medicated pets. If signs of sensitivity occur, bathe your pet with mild soap and rinse with large amount of water. If signs continue, consult a veterinarian immediately.

    Great value, very effective.
My ten year old male cat is indoor out door. This works perfectly for us. I don’t spend more because this does the job. He usually has one or two ticks at the beginning of the season when it warms up or in the beginning of the fall when ticks are more prevalent. That’s my cure to start applying the treatment, after that he doesn’t get any more deer ticks as long as I treat him monthly. I typically apply a day in the first week of every month. I don’t treat him during the winter months when he stays indoors, but that’s my choice, you can treat monthly if you wish. My cat has never had a flea either with this treatment. I’m very satisfied with the results and price. It doesn’t irritate his skin, or cause any noticable side effects either. Use these products at your own descretion. If you live in a place that’s heavily infested, you may want to use something more powerful, if this works for you like it does for me, then why spend more?. I have mine under a subscription which conveniently delivers it to our home in a timely manner. Now I never have to worry about running to the store for flea and tick treatment.

    awful smell – RETURNED
Update 3rd day: our cat was scratching excessively still so we decided not to use any more of this product. We returned it.We found a product (Advecta II) with same ingredients as our previous one so we’re trying that. Seems to be working (definitely a lot less scratching!). We are in North Central TX by the way (different types of fleas in different regions).Original review:After many attempts at using more “natural” flea treatments, we were disappointed that we had to go back to the strong chemicals bc the other treatments didn’t work well.A friend gave me good advice we’ve been following successfully for years: Instead of putting the entire dose at one time, spread it out over 3-4 days to help decrease the amount of strong insecticides entering our cat’s system at one time. We’ve been doing that for the past few years now. The fleas were no longer a problem, and we felt our cat was being less impacted by the chemicals. We can no longer find the product we were using, so we bought this Hartz product for the first time. Following our system from before, esp bc of some bad reviews about skin irritation, we put just a few drops on our cat, using about 1/4 of the tube (instead of the entire tube) this evening.it’s too soon to see effectiveness, but I was very surprised at the strong odor – smells like nail polish or polish remover. What was worse is the smell lingered for at least an hour, and could be smelled by anyone who came within a few feet of our cat even an hour later. This has never happened before. I hope it’s not an indication that this product is way too harsh. As long as we don’t see any bad reactions in our cat, we’ll continue giving doses over the next couple of days until the tube is empty.A few hours later, our cat is still scratching. I will update on the effectivess shortly, after applying the full dose.Giving 3 stars for now bc the awful smell doesn’t bode well.

The stuff works, but hype over the applicator is just that, hype
As far as I can tell, this stuff works. I put it on the cat and the cat isn’t scratching as much as she was before I put it on her. Based on that as a measure of the product’s effectiveness, it seems to take a few days to “kick in.” And like Frontline, your pet has to get bitten for the stuff to kill the flea or tick, so you will still see your cat scratch when the bug bites. As I have to apply something for six months of the year, and this stuff is but one third the cost of Frontline Plus, I love it.Observations:Hartz and Frontline use different approaches. Frontline Plus uses 9.8% fipronil and 11.8% S-methoprene, whereas Hartz Ultra Guard Pro is 3.6% S-methoprene and 40% Etofenprox (sp? as even with my magnifying glasses, it’s hard to read). The difference in the active ingredients may account for why the volume of fluid in the Hartz tube is so much greater than that of the Frontline dispenser. As goes applying the stuff, it’s easy to dispense it from the little tube it comes in, somewhat easier than, Frontline. That said, my cat (short hair) seems to have very, very dense fur, so getting the fluid to adhere only to her skin and not her fur is nigh impossible, an issue I didn’t have to such an extent with Frontline, and one that is exacerbated by the greater volume of liquid in the Hartz tube. Parting her fur to even see her skin is a major task in itself; I have to give her a bath so her fur is wet and I can see/access her skin (same with Frontline), and have her fur stay parted once I do. (To be fair, her fur’s thickness and the challenge it presents in applying the liquid, may have something to do with it taking a few days to have an effect.)Conclusion:All in all, however, I’m satisfied with this product and I will continue to use it. The inconveniences I mentioned above are, for me, a reasonable trade off for saving over $100 a season to keep my cat and home free of fleas.

    Love this stuff
I realize that not all people can like every product. I love this product. When I had a dog I used Frontline and it worked best. However, it did not work for my cats, which is okay. I have used Hartz for several months for my furry friends and it seems to start working within 24 hours. Sometimes there is a greasy mess, but it still works, I just massage it in a bit. I will continue to use it for my feline friends.I would also suggest that if it doesn’t work for you, don’t bash it. I don’t bash Frontline because it didn’t work for my cats. It’s just the nature of having different brands and products.
