Works okay for small turtles, but has some real limitations
I wanted to like this basking platform more than I do, but it’s got some issues that are worth knowing about before you buy.The good stuff:- Super easy to put together – took me maybe 5 minutes- Once it’s on there, it feels pretty sturdy and doesn’t slip around- The acrylic stays cool under the heat lamp, which is nice. I’ve had metal platforms before that got way too hot to touch.- The height adjustment actually works well – you can move it up and down without fighting with it- For $19, the price seems fairThe not-so-good stuff:- This is the big one – it only fits on really thin tank walls. I was hoping to use it on my larger turtle ponds, but nope. It only works on my small grow-out tank. Definitely measure your tank walls before ordering!- It’s pretty small, so this is really only for baby or juvenile turtles. Once they get bigger, they’ll outgrow it fast.- The acrylic actually blocks UVB light, which turtles need for calcium absorption. So even though they’re under the basking lamp, they’re not getting those important UV rays through the platform itself.- The surface is slick – I’m probably going to glue some fake grass on the ramp so they can actually climb up without sliding back down.- The feeding tray seems like a nice idea, but most turtles need to eat in the water anyway, so I doubt I’ll use it.- My two juveniles are scared of it right now and won’t go near it. I’m sure they’ll get used to it, but you may have an adjustment period with your turtles as well.Bottom line:If you’ve got a regular aquarium with thin walls and some little turtles, this might work for you. Just be aware of the size limitations and the UV blocking issue. Make sure your UVB bulb can still reach them when they’re swimming around, not just when they’re on the platform. And measure your tank walls first, just to ensure it will fit before ordering.

Nice bundle for smaller pets, check your measurements!
So Iâve been in need of a new basking area for my slider turtle and was really excited to get this. However it ended up being way too small for my turtle, so I had to get a different one. I ordered the large size but it wasnât really that âlargeâ but honestly thatâs on me and itâs user error. Make sure you pay attention to where it says the platform is the only thing that differs in measurements, because the ramp and everything else stay the same, no matter what size you order. I will say that itâs well made, sturdy, and easy to put together. I like the idea of it, and just wish that it was bigger. I think the food bowl just takes up some much needed space, but thatâs my opinion. The part that attaches to the tank should be made a little bigger as well, but will most likely fit smaller aquariums, definitely check yours. Itâs all going to depend on how wide the black trim that goes around your tank is. Also when it comes to my slider he needs to be able to get completely out of the water in order to bask, so the ramp has to be climbable, and I was worried that it may not have enough traction for him to get up. And if the water is filled up too close to the platform, it risks it not staying dry, which is a must. See the thing about turtles are that they grow and grow and oh yeah, they GROW. lol. So mine has outgrown many aquariums and platforms etc. My advice is to go big or go home, once they reach a certain size lol. Saves a lot of money. The artificial plant it came with and the rocks are a cute added touch, I believe this kit would be great for young turtles and a beginner aquarium. Or even other pets. It didnât work out for me unfortunately, but would definitely do itâs just job for a more suitable sized pet.

Simple to build and install.
Simple to build, easy to install and love by my daughters crayfish who sits in it and chills. It is perfect size and allows her crayfish to happily climb the ramp and get into it.One tip, make sure you put stones/sand/gravel on the ramp as it is difficult for a crayfish to see as it is clear 🙂

Smaller Than It Looks
Unfortunately this was not exactly what I expected. It is very easy to put together and in a nice clear acrylic piece. Seems to be pretty well made and durable as well. The plant and few pebbles it comes with are nice. It is way smaller than I anticipated. My turtle is entirely too large for this. The small plastic pieces that keep it secured on the side only work with the thin tanks, so be sure to measure. It is well made and decent quality, just small.

These are great
Definitely worth the 20$. I have a number of these in varying sizes, etc., and – as yet – I don’t have a turtle 1, (but soon). In my aquariums I set up a strong variety of different zones, hanging these ‘shelves’ subsurface with some substrate, plants some rocks and such creates some very natural-like mini habitat space; a lot of fish are territorial – each staking out their own little ‘room’ in the tank. These are super simple and quick to assemble and install, takes longer to decide where to put it. I have community tanks with a lot of fish types, at least 6 in each unit, so creating those ideal zones for each species, (even each individual, depending on the type) is important, and an aspect of aquarism I particularly enjoy. The thickness, grade/quality, and connection hardware vary some in these, this is in the midrange, which hits in about 4.5 stars; I have some higher end ones that are pricier and much more like the ‘glass’ part of plexiglass, but for a unit like this, it doesn’t need to be ‘see-through’ clear, neither the turtles, the fish or any other critter isn’t going to care.

Perfect Basking Spot for My Turtles!
This turtle platform is exactly what I needed! The adjustable ramp and height make it easy for my turtles to climb, and the anti-slip surface keeps them safe. The feeding tray is a nice bonus, and the acrylic feels sturdy and durable. Highly recommend for any aquatic turtle setup!

good enough
It’s ok, nothing super fancy and it feels somewhat brittle, but it’s cheap.
